Stopped in for a dinner at the end of the evening and it smelled amazing. The restaurant it self was a bit cluttered and wasn’t the cleanest.
Customer service was amazing. The employee was super friendly and full of energy. It was easy to order and I was felt like they really value the customer.
I chose the brisket plate and while I live some parts of this order the brisket wasn’t the highlight. It had a great smoke flavor but it was over cooked and dry. I’m a bbq guy and I smoke my own brisket so I know a little bit and have a high expectations. My brisket was also from the flat and I should have asked for the point ( I always forget to specify). The macaroni salad was good but didn’t look fresh so I passed. My favorite was the baked beans. Really really delicious.
Overall I would try it again but I would go earlier and specify the point. I didn’t try the ribs but they seemed to have received good reviews from a side conversation I overheard.
While I realize BBQ takes time, I’d recommend to Jr, only serve what you’re proud of, and would eat yourself. I think this will ensure everyone who pays $21 for a plate is satisfied.

Just had the combo platter that comes with some of every kind of meat there. All were perfectly cooked and tasted delicious! Brisket, pulled pork, smoked chicken, were awesome and the ribs were the best I’ve had in a while, meaty and delicious. I also highly recommend the baked beans, they were loaded with pork and chicken too! Will definitely go back, one of my favorite places.

You guys seriously have to try this. The ribs and beans were my favorite…and those are usually my least favorite. They were super good! Staff is really helpful and friendly, good atmosphere. We loved it!! Finally took my 7 year old here, she loved the ribs too! And the pizza.

Stopped by because BBQ sounded good. Got a great deal on prime rib and pulled pork sandwich. loved it so much we brought our parents back the next day for the buffet. would highly recommend!

We just love the atmosphere! Very enjoyable in mid to late afternoon as it is quite and we can sit by the fire. Today we ordered a blue moon, golden spike ipa, New York lox on cranberry bagel and the mix melt on cranberry wildrice bread. They make all their bread and bagels fresh and they are delicious.

This restaurant finally got it figured out. The owners are offering unique homemade barbecue and cheescake – a first in the Brainerd Lakes Area. Plus the super delicious pizza which has always been the hallmark of this restaurant. Also, one of the few places in Brainerd where there’s plenty of room with a pleasant friendly staff and a super clean faclility! Check out the brisket! You’ll be back for more…

We’ve been here twice since moving to the area, sure wish we would have tried JR’s earlier! Loving the pizza! Right amount of sauce in proportion to the crust and toppings. Consistent both times. The atmosphere is good, not over crowded either time but we were earlier than dinner time on both our trips. People who work there are awesome! Friendly and seem to genuinely care.

I don’t like leaving negative reviews, because there is usually something to say positive about an experience; not this time.
My experience for the lunch buffet left plenty of room for improvement. The food was over cooked and dry. Plenty of smoke taste but not in a good way. The buffet serving trays were virtually empty. The small amount of items that were in the trays were warm at best.
I love ribs that are thick with tons of meat that fall off in your mouth when you take a bite, not today. Even the pizza I tried had been out on the small table way too long.
Sorry, not worth the money or my time.
