At the the turn of the century, our family had the vision of becoming the best authentic Mexican Restaurant in Sebastopol, and quite possibly, all of Sonoma County. In 2002, we were able to make that vision a reality. Since then, we have had the honor of living out our passion and serving an amazing community. We believe our Mexican Cuisine (with a California twist), in-house salsas and sauces, and our perfectionism are what keeps our customers coming back time and time again. I couldn’t have been more happy with choosing this location and the great news is I work right next to it!!! It’s the first time I actually came and had myself a meal with my wife here. We got two big meals. I took a picture of mine that came with two plates for only $21?!!! Yes, $21 for two Sopes two enchiladas rice and beans and I didn’t even finish half of it. I got lunch and dinner for later for $21 and a great experience. After the meal they even gave some dessert on the house. I’m very happy here. This is a great place. I’m definitely coming back. I recommend this for everyone..

I really loved this place. We walked in as a party of 6. Seated right away. Huge menu! The cook made us a complimentary platter of nachos. Our food came out fast and we all loved what we ate. I wish I would have taken pictures! I highly recommend this place. They serve you 2 types of salsa and beans with chips while you wait. My daughter’s favorite. So much to choose from I have to come back for another taste of something I haven’t tried.

Just ordered takeout here for the family. My two kids each ordered a bean and cheese burrito so there were two total in the order. On the drive back my husband realized that there was only one bean and cheese burrito so we went back to explain and ask for the second one we ordered and paid for. The bean and cheese burrito they gave me was less than half the size of the normal one there should have been two of. It seemed odd and spiteful of them to make a small one when they were the ones that forgot and messed up the order. Added a photo of the bean and cheese burrito that was first included and the second one they gave when I went back to get the second one.

1-when it’s cold outside it’s warm inside, I am so sick of restaurants keeping their restaurants freezing just to avoid a heating bill and make their weight stuff more comfortable when it’s really about the customers, I love it when my food doesn’t get cold as I eat, and I can actually takeoff my jacket and they go the extra mile to keep it comfortable inside and extremely clean and really well decorated with very classy decorations!
2-the kids menu is actually amazing and
3-the skinny margarita is bomb and uses all fresh juices!
Overall, it’s a fantastic establishment that seriously deserves a ton of business

This place is always one of my go to places in Sebastopol. They have great food and the service is always fast and the staff is super friendly. The canterito is my favorite drink in all of sonoma county but thier standard margaritas are great as well.

If you want to a place where you can feel comfortable and enjoy the ambience and amazing cocktails and mouthwatering food then I say go to El Coronel! The staff is amazing! Everybody is so friendly. Magaly is a very attentive and friendly waitress, always making sure everyone is helped and always gives the best service! George and Jared are amazing and attentive servers as well, and the boss is always so attentive and friendly. My favorite place to go to relax after work or to have a nice lunch! The cocktails are the best and the nachos are my favorite!!

A Delicious Detour in Sebastopol
While on a day trip north of San Francisco, we took a detour into Sebastopol for lunch. El Coronel was right there, and it looked like a good option because we had our little puppy with us. It was a beautiful afternoon, and they had outdoor seating available.
El Coronel Mexican Restaurant was founded by Armando Coronel in 2002 and has been part of Sebastopol’s culinary scene since then. It has been a family-run operation for over two decades and serves tasty Mexican cuisine. El Coronel is known for its sizzling fajitas, delicious combinations, flavorful tacos, and burritos. They have a beautiful patio with a complete outdoor bar. The interior is beautifully designed and looks comfortable for individuals and both small and large groups.
We started with an order of Guacamole, their House Margarita, and Hibiscus Tea. The Guacamole was freshly made, and there was plenty of it! We enjoyed the combination of fresh guacamole and chips. The drinks were good, too.
We decided to share a Parrillada (which means grilled in English) for the main dish. There was plenty of food. The meats (beef, pork, and chicken) were all fresh, well-cooked, and flavorful. It came with a plate of rice, beans, guacamole, sour cream, and fresh tortillas.
I could not leave without trying their flan and was very happy I didn’t! It was one of the better flans I have had in a while.
The staff was very attentive and friendly. A gentleman, who may have been the owner or manager, stopped by our table and asked how we were doing. He was very friendly and welcoming.
We enjoyed our experience, and as we left, I made a mental note to come back and try their Molcajete! It looked very good!

The service was great but the food was only so so. We had Chili Verde and a combo plate with a Chile relleno and a sope. That base of the sope was tough and rubbery, I didn’t eat it all. The food was good enough, but not great. It want beer flavorful. The atmosphere was lovely and the service was great. Maybe we just didn’t order well. Also $9 for a bottle of Negó Modelo seems steep. The menu said it was on draft, but it was just a 12oz bottle.
