During my sailing adventure across the Ionian Sea, I had the pleasure of visiting a Greek restaurant — and what else could it be, really?
The ambiance instantly transported me into the world of Mamma Mia! — whitewashed walls trimmed with ocean blue, crisp linen-covered tables, and wooden chairs perched so close to the water you could almost dip your toes. The setting alone deserved applause.
The meal began with a generous parade of appetizers: fresh vegetables kissed by the sun, creamy feta drizzled with honey, and fragrant herbs like dill that tied everything together. Simplicity, elevated.
For the main course, I went for grilled shrimp and squid stuffed with tangy cheese — both grilled to perfection, smoky and rich. Those with room left at the end were rewarded with a decadent slice of baklava or a rich chocolate cake paired with ice cream. (Yes, I tried both. No regrets.)
It felt like dining in the middle of a “Big Fat Greek Wedding” — loud, joyful, and deliciously chaotic in the best way.
This culinary gem didn’t just feed the body — it deepened the overall experience of my voyage: swimming in shallow turquoise coves, admiring the charming architecture of island villages, and surrendering to the rhythm of Greek island life.
Highly recommended for anyone seeking more than just a meal — but a memory.
The Macedonians in the boat next to us gave us a fish they’d caught because Ellie talked to them. George’s lot cooked it Greek style. It was excellent, as were the Macedonians on the table next to us, even though we couldn’t really understand them. The fish was so large we couldn’t finish it so we gave it to the cats. They were really sweet.
What could’ve been a great night ended up being frustrating. The long wait and poorly prepared food completely ruined the atmosphere and killed our appetite. For a place with such a strong reputation, this was a major letdown.
Additionally there are way too many cats. I do appreciate that that is part of Greece and I do love them but when they are everywhere and my girlfriend was scratched.
Huuuuge portions, be aware. …
we had a lovely meal at George’s restaurant on our sailing holiday. The food was delicious and the service was great, the atmosphere and setting were beautiful, we had a perfect table on the beach right by the sea. You are also able to use the showers here too, if your staying on a boat this is super handy. We had coffee here the next day too which was also really lovely. Highly recommended.
No particular cat problem.
