I got lucky and I came to Four Suns Fish and Chips on the last day of the year that they were open.
They are seasonal so if you come in winter, they will not be open. This is probably the best fish I’ve had in the upper peninsula of Michigan.
Their crust and bread in and seasoning is amazing. You get a really big portion almost more than you can eat. The place doesn’t look like much from the outside so don’t expect anything fancy. What you can’t expect is the best whitefish you’ve ever had in your life. I highly recommend stopping at Peterson’s and getting the fish basket. Across from them as an old abandoned mine there’s a lot of stuff in the area to check out.

Our family stopped in to Four Suns Fish and Chips during our visit to the peninsula and will def be a regular stop during our annual UP trips.
What we loved about Four Suns is the dedication to freshly prepared food. Each order was prepared fresh and with care.
We enjoyed a whitefish and perch basket. Our food was crispy, fresh and hot!
Four Suns has a robust menu for adult palates and great offerings for the kiddos. There is a moderate amount of indoor seating and a larger outside picnic styled area.
Prices are just right too! Make sure you swing by Four Suns on your visit to the area!

The whitefish is excellent! I also love their fries, and the risotto is yummy! The atmosphere is fun and the service is friendly, super fast and efficient, even though they seem to be constantly taking orders. The only thing that is a miss for me are the whitefish tacos. The fish itself is delicious, but the tacos, even with the salsa that comes with them, need something more. Maybe a sauce, or a marinade for the slaw. They have indoor and outdoor seating and a great view of the Quincy Mine just across the highway.

We ate here for lunch and it was great! Beautiful view and very good food. The fried whitefish was thin, crispy and cooked perfectly. The meal comes with fries, slaw, a lot of tartar sauce, and a lemon. All excellent. My only con would be the price. It was $25/pp with drink and small tip.

Well, I must say, this might be the first time I’m writing a review for anywhere. My Step-Grandfather and I went on a trip to the Keweenaw peninsula, particularly for copper harbor and the surrounding area. After about a 2 or so hour drive, we made our first stop here. My father is an English man, and I still remember how important a stop at the chippy would be if we went to the UK. Well, when we stopped to check this place out, it blew me us out of the water.
Amazing food, perfectly executed with fresh fish, and the vibe of the restaurant and workers was spot on. It was so good – again, I can’t think of any time I’ve done this in a short timespan – that we ended up going back AGAIN on our way out the peninsula. Its not revolutionary, though everything about it is just right. It was a perfect way to start and end an amazing trip.

So good we had to got back! We went to 4 Suns Fish and Chips for dinner. The deep fried whitefish was absolutely phenomenal. You can’t go wrong with fresh fish. They definitely know how to handle their fresh catch! The batter was crunchy and light and just the right amount. French fries were very good as well. It was so good we went back the next day for lunch. The fish tacos had the same amazing whitefish deep fried and topped with cabbage and cheese and a side of “salsa” which was really diced tomatoes. They were good but they would be better off with coleslaw on top and some lime juice in the tomatoes to send the tacos over the top with flavor. The smoked fish and jalapeño chowder was full of flavor and just the right amount of spice. Everything came out piping hot. Portion size was right on; perfect for what you pay. We’ll be stopping in everytime we pass through. Maybe we should go get a whitefish sandwhich for supper!

The fish was delicious! Fried whitefish has a nice crispy crust, not heavily battered and greasy. The baked parmesan whitefish was perfectly cooked and very flavorful. Great fries and perfect coleslaw. The atmosphere is super cute. There are tables in an open air porch, or outside in the yard. A great lunch stop!

2025 update: the fish is still fresh and amazing! The service is still friendly and the place looks exactly as I remember from 2 years ago. The price did go up about $2 since my last visit tho.

The parmesan crusted white fish is not to be believed, it’s so fresh, amazing and delicious. The fish fillet was thick and long. The risotto was a delicious accompaniment and the cod fish taco was excellent as well.
This is easily the best seafood I’ve had while doing the Lake Superior circle tour. The only negative is that I will now have to live the rest of my life knowing just how far this place is from me, wherever I am!!

Four Suns was the most delicious place I’ve ever had fresh fried White Fish. The fish was mouth watering, flaky soft delicate and awesome. Down right home made. It tastes better than if you freshly caught it and fried it at the shoreline. I wish I could buy it at home. The fish is as fresh and delicious as it can be. They should train culinary schools how to train top chefs to cook fish. No one does it better. Caught the same day in Lake Superior. I can’t describe in words how delicious it was. The fries, coleslaw and tartar sauce was great too. It is by far the best place I’ve eaten white fish in the UP and America. I’d go an hour out of my way to eat here. It’s conveniently located across the street from Quincy Mine right behind the fish market. Definitely a must stop on every trip. An epic great tasting food experience!

Great fresh whitefish. Had the fried whitefish basket. The breading is very light. Generous portions. You left full. They had constant traffic of people picking up online orders, but we walked right in and got a table to sit.
