I was looking for a place to eat brunch and this location popped up. They have outside seating very nice. I had to go up these stairs to the dining area. Their decor was nice and clean. They had special of food and drinks that were not displayed on the menu. I must of been there early because it was not crowded. The came out pretty fast. The pricing was moderate
Update: I took my cousin here because I wanted her to patron a black owned restaurant, she loved it. I tried a different dish they have on the menu of lamb chop and it was delicious. Tried their dessert and it was a slam dunk .

The service was just as good as the food. The staff was warm, welcoming, and genuinely attentive.

The atmosphere tied it all together—relaxed, inviting, and full of good energy. It’s the kind of place you can sit back and relax.

Wife and I was in the area so decided to have a quick lunch and a cocktail to celebrate my birthday. We sat outside which was clean, service was quick, food was delicious, and cocktail was strong and very good. Can’t comment on the inside as we never entered but no complaints here. Place was jamming and I could tell alot were returning customers. Would definitely check out again!

I love the customer service, the food, and the atmosphere! If you want soul food with a step up from the typical soul food restaurant, then this is the spot. My dear friends and I went on a nice day so we were able to eat outside, converse, and enjoy the weather. Nice spot! Oh and please dress appropriately.

Where do I begin? Second time visiting this spot. I vaguely remember subtle disappointment the first go around, but my mother and I were in the area and decided to visit this weekend. Got there and there was a crowd in front of the restaurant which made me think either people were waiting for it to open, or they were waiting to be seated. They have a courtyard that can be utilized to seat awaiting guests, but no. All they have are two benches out front that cannot seat everyone that’s waiting. It’s an eye sore. Use the courtyard . The man at the front said we didn’t need to give a name for a wait list, okay fine; but how is it that people that arrived after us got seated first? When we did get seated we placed our order within 20 minutes. The waitress didn’t let us know until some 30+ minutes, long after the order was placed, that they were out of deviled eggs (what kind of inventory check/ prep does kitchen staff do that they don’t let the wait staff know what they do/ don’t have? That should have been disclosed when I placed the order). I opted for catfish nuggets instead (I’ll get back to that). The food finally comes some 45 mins after being seated. One of my two sides were missing. The waitress said they were also out of collards (again, inventory check/ prep??? No? Okay… moving on). I opted for green beans. My mother opted for cabbage. Her fish was not fresh and it wasn’t even hot. She couldn’t eat it. She said her potato salad was okay at least. My wings were good and so was the mac & cheese (no complaints there). I was halfway done with my meal (a good 10-15 mins) before we asked about the green beans and cabbage. The catfish nuggets? Still waiting on that (an appetizer btw). The green beans and cabbage eventually came out (an hour after being there at least). The green beans – steaming. Cabbage? Room temp and had a yellow hue. Both canned, which was easy to tell. I don’t go out to eat to have canned vegetables. I don’t even eat canned vegs at home. The waitress made things right and replaced my side with another mac & cheese. The fish platter had to be comped. I cancelled the nuggets, because at that point, we already finished eating. Just a complete turn off. Very unorganized. Saving graces: mac & cheese, wings, potato salad, wait staff. Go somewhere else if you can. Side note: I’m sure the waitress was overwhelmed. There was maybe one other waitress for the whole restaurant. On our way out, we noticed a couple that had gotten seated right after us that still had not gotten their food. A mess. Lastly, the parking lot is riddled with potholes.

District 924 is absolutely a delightful place to dine. The food, service and location in downtown Winston Salem was a added bonus to my day. We just searched for a land on Google to eat a light brunch while in town visiting and God couldn’t have picked out a better place for us. Timing is everything to me and this was right on time. The Grits with Goude and catfish nuggets were my choice and when I say “OMG”, my taste buds have been happy all day. My husband had the special “Fried Chicken” and he added waffles and scrambled eggs and of course I had to have a taste, when I say “OMG”! Everyrhing was “cooked to order”, fresh and seasoned with perfection. There was not have heavy greasy taste to the chicken. It was light and crisp and absolutely delish! The Chef desires a gold star award and the staff deserves the same. Good customer service with great personalities and smiles are rare these days. The hospitality and service made the food even more wonderful. Please drop in and treat yourself to a great brunch and tell them Rev. D.J. sent you. Bon Appetite!

I stumbled upon this place while walking around nearby Old Salem, College & Academy main campus with family. The interior design of clear chandeliers is gorgeous. There is a bar upstairs and the downstairs dining. And they have functioning restrooms as well. The food was delicious & would love to come again sometime.

Went with a friend of mine Saturday. This was a really bad experience. We sat down at around 3 pm, didn’t get any attention until about 3:20pm. The waitress was horrible. Said that she’d be right with us, however it took a very long time for her to come to the table just to take a drink order. Got drinks, the 1/2 tea/lemonade tasted as if they dumped the whole bag if sugar in it. Switched that out for Starry and that tasted even worst. Got the drinks, waited another long while to get order taken. It wasn’t that busy at the time because she had cashed out most of her customers. Started getting irritated because the food took a long time to come out. Why does it take near 45 minutes for fish and grits to come out. His fried chicken wings came out and I had to wait another 10 minutes.
The waitress was double charging people. The silver haired lady beside us had to get her ticket corrected. When our ticket came, she had charged twice for the collards and added on 6 wings when we ordered 3. When we opened the box later in the evening, the wings were half done! Would’ve been better off eating at the Carolina Classic Fair. Would’ve been better food and pricing. I took 3 bites of the fish and grits. Won’t be back nor recommend. The bad thing is his friend recommended this place. Sometimes word of mouth isn’t a good thing.

*Terrible service, horrible food (the mac and cheese was dry, the collards too salty, and undercooked wings), horrible wait times, over charges.*

There’s a party in my tummy…SO YUMMY, SO YUMMY!
Be sure to get the fried pork chop!!! Everything was delicious. Not sure what the secret ingredient is in the waffles, but it’s the best waffle I’ve tasted in a long time!!

We were seated and greeted immediately. Our server was friendly and attentive. My son attends WSSU so I’ll definitely return soon!
