This is one of favorite fusion restaurants in San Diego. The Akira back pizza and the miso pork are staple dishes for me. The Nigiri and Sashimi are always fresh and the cocktails strong. Definitely revommend this spot if you’re craving sushi with a twist!

What an unexpected positive experience! It is rare to walk into a restaurant in America and feel special; however, from the moment we sat down, it was obvious the staff cared about our experience. Juan, the manager, made certain we were welcomed. Our waitress, Becky, was knowledgeable of the menu and made superb recommendations, based on our personal tastes. She was also a delight to converse with. We were allowed to enjoy our meal without feeling rushed. Speaking of our meal, the food was absolutely amazing. Sushi, tomahawk steak, and dessert were all impeccable. We will be back.

I really enjoyed our time at Lumi. Our waiter was so nice and we grazed and drank across their specialty cocktails. The miso eggplant was one of the best dishes… and I don’t even like eggplant! Favorite drink was the espresso martini – really smooth and creamy and you cannot go wrong with the Toki Highball. I didn’t enjoy the surf and turf sushi but the Sushi Pizza was incredible.

We had a good experience at Lumi for our anniversary. Their staff are very friendly and the rooftop is very fun! The food was good, but definitely overpriced. We liked our drink and they looked cute, but expected a more unique taste. All the fishes were fresh but not as special as I thought it would taste.

Some of the best sushi I’ve had. The fish was so fresh and the nigiri melts in your mouth. The drinks were refreshing and light. The place was a great vibe and our waiter was wonderful. My only complaint is that the bartender was super loud laughing and cutting up while we were dining. Other than that fantastic night out.

My one complaint is that we had a reservation and arrived right when the restaurant opened at 5:30pm, yet the staff decided to seat us in a corner right next to the stairwell leading to the bathroom. The said they were so overbooked and couldn’t change our seating, despite being only one of two couples at the restaurant (and the other couple was allowed to sit at a nicer spot on the balcony). Decision didn’t make sense since we had a reservation and were there now with no one else waiting. And if every table is booked, wouldn’t it make sense to seat people at the nicer spots first anyway since it means they will free up those spots sooner for later reservations?!

From the moment we arrived, Lumi impressed us with its breathtaking design aesthetic and impeccable service.
We were celebrating a friend’s birthday and it was clear that the entire staff from the host to the food runner to our server had read the reservation notes and went above and beyond to make the evening special.
Every dish was a showstopper, beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. The standout favorites for me were the sushi pizza and the seabass specialty roll-absolutely unforgettable. I’ll never not order them when we visit! If you are local check out the Monday night specials.
Our server Cassie struck the perfect balance of being attentive without ever feeling intrusive. They were incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and made excellent recommendations that elevated our experience even further.

Absolutely love this place in downtown San Diego! From the rooftop ambiance to the menu selection, Lumi is a 10/10. I REALLY liked how they had a mocktail section – I ordered the “soft coffee” and it was delicious! For food, we ordered the yellowtail Serrano (waiter recommendation), 2x Pork Belly’s, and the albacore nigiri. Everything had amazing flavors and was cooked to perfection. I want to shoutout José for being a tentative waiter that provided great recommendations. We enjoyed everything!
