This is my first time having Caribbean food. Wow, wow, wow! I am so surprised that this food was so delicious. It was truly fantastic. Today, I tried out the brown stew chicken, rice and peas, plantains, shredded chicken patty, and a peanut butter crunch dessert.

The brown stew chicken was surprisingly flavorful and satisfying. It fell off the bone! This chicken was definitely not white meat, which is what I typically enjoy, but it was definitely quite good. There was a decent amount of meat on the chicken for just $10, and the portion was satisfying. I loved the brown stew sauce! So tasty. There was some fat covering the chicken I had to take off (not too appealing to me), but other than that, very good.

I also thought the rice and peas were quite tasty. They once again gave me a good portion. The side came for free with the “Just a Taste” meal. The ‘peas’ aren’t actually peas: they are kidney beans. I recommend soaking up the rice with the stew sauce to make it extra tasty.

The cornbread was a nice addition to the meal. It was moist and had a nice, mild but lightly sweet flavor. The chicken patty was a bit spicier than I thought it would be. It seemed to have some sort of sauce inside, too. But, it was flaky and delicious nonetheless.

The plantains were near perfect. You definitely have to try them out since they are so cheap (just $2) and you get 4 thick pieces. Perfectly caramelized, great texture, and nice sweetness. The peanut butter crunch pie was a little small especially for it being $4. But, the flavor was great. Chunks of peanuts, chocolate crust, peanut butter whipping, chocolate pieces. Not sure if it was homemade, but way better than many store bought peanut butter pies.

All in all, this was a great place to first try Caribbean cuisine. I loved almost everything I got and the portions as well as prices were both reasonable. I’m motivated to start eating this type of food more often!

It’s not the same not sure what or who changed but our food was disappointing. The Mac was horrible like the noodles wasn’t even sticking to the cheese. The brown stew chicken was horrible taste different. The peppersteak was basic the rice is nasty and pasty the cabbage was greasy and undercooked. Food seemed to have been sitting in that bin all day definitely won’t be back it’s to expensive to be a waste I’m sitting here mad I got this food yesterday and put it in the fridge after I ate a few bites like I’m just gonna let it marinade nope it’s nasty now I have to spend more money. Idk all the meat taste funny even the oxtails had me thinking WTH am I eating atp just throw it all away one of those lessons learned.

Absolutely the most unprofessional place of business I’ve ever step foot inside. The older gentleman behind the counter had NO interest in taking my order, he actually walked away as I was still telling him what I wanted. We went in as a family of 4, knowing my bill would be upwards of $100.00, I refused to beg this “man” to my order, told him we would take our business elsewhere and walked out. Worst experience I’ve EVER had in any business on the east coast. Would NOT recommend!

Absolutely terrible experience. As I was walking out of the restaurant, the door closed on me at their steps, causing my food to fall to the ground — literally right outside their door. This was not my fault in any way. I had just spent almost $30 on a meal, and the incident happened directly in front of a worker who clearly saw everything.

Instead of handling this with any compassion or accountability, the owner came over and told the employee — who witnessed the whole thing — that I would have to pay another $30 if I wanted my food replaced. That response was extremely disheartening and disappointing.

As a Caribbean person, I was simply trying to support a Caribbean small business, and this is the kind of treatment I received. No understanding, no customer service, no sense of community — just a demand for more money.

I will never spend my money here again and would not recommend this place to anyone expecting basic decency or respect.

Hands down theeeeee best carribean food I’ve had anywhere and I travel the country seeking it out personally!!! Oxtails were flavorful and falling off the bone, the rice and peas were definitely different than any other restaurant I’ve been to. The goat was very delicious, as was the cabbage and mac and cheese and the plantains. I was very happy and wished I could’ve gone back before I left!

I had to come back and change my review because Leon’s has fallen off was one of my favorite restaurants and now I’m getting undone, cabbage, barely any gravy in the meat is chewy it used to fall off the bone. I never have these issues if I order before they open and haven’t made as soon as they do, but it just seems like it’s been terrible lately. The cabbage I got today is not even done. I have no gravy picture in the comments for proof.

We stopped in for dinner and were very impressed with the cruise. My fiancé and I love tasting different cultures. Everything came out hot and perfect. Staff was so kind and gracious and even gave us a few free treats to take home. Thank you guys and gals -would recommend to anyone. Please note there is a small sitting area, but it is the perfect spot.

Lunch portion of curry chicken for $12 the 3 little pieces of chicken is not enough to fill a toddler. For a lunch meal I’m sure we could spare a chicken leg atleast for a full portion. I felt robbed during this experience I waited 45 mins after the store opened to be served. I am just not feeling good about this meal at all. Maybe try Salem market instead they have a fuller portion for cheaper price.

My other half and I have eaten here multiple times and have never eaten anything we didn’t love. Their curry chicken and jerk chicken are amazing, their cabbage is always flavorful, and the portions we’ve had both dine in and to go have been great. And the plantains!! I absolutely love them, but I was heartbroken the last time I ordered them. I drove 20+ minutes just to get their plantains, and they were no where near what I’ve had previously. I was heartbroken! They were cut into huge chunks, were so dry and weren’t edible at all. I really hope whoever prepared them like that was just having a bad day or something! I uploaded pics to show what I’m used to having, and what I was given at my last visit, which should have never been served. I won’t let that one experience take away my rating for their food tho, every experience I’ve had before this had been 5 stars +!

Great food the jerk chicken is super bomb. Been there multiple times only one time I went in there and they didn’t have the red beans with rice. They only had white rice that made me kind of sad but otherwise great food best jerk chicken n town fall off the bone
