JD Flannel is an artisan donut shop with donuts made from scratch and specialty roasted coffee located in the heart of San Juan Capistrano. While we offer unique flavors, we take pride in making the classics the right way with the finest ingredients. We make our donuts in small batches throughout the day to ensure our donuts are fresh when served to you! We are a very short walk from Mission San Juan Capistrano and the train station, so come visit us today!

Stopped here for the first time since don’t live in the area. My wife has food restrictions and had the vegan donuts which was amazing, the in boysenberry and cookies and cream. I had the old fashioned and apple bear claw.
They were all so good, certainly going to stop in again.

Tried JD Flannel donuts for the first time.spent over $35 for 6 donuts, and it was totally worth it! My kid loved them, and even though I’m not usually a donut fan, I absolutely enjoyed the Sea Salt Butter & Maple donut .it’s incredible.
The staff is super friendly, and Christine especially made us feel so welcome and appreciated. It’s a 45 minute drive for us, but I’ll definitely be coming back. The quality, taste, and service make it worth every mile

The donut density is different, kinda reminds me of waffles. The sweetness is just right. Not too overwhelmingly sweet. The latte was creamy and delicious. I asked a latte with vanilla flavor with no modifications. It was perfectly mixed.

The owner is usually there working and is always engaging with us and the many patrons. They have unique flavors they add each month. They also have gluten free donuts and coffee. Nice little donut shop here in San Juan Capistrano, Ca. It was quite busy when we arrived around 1:45 pm.
It was recommended by some friends. Staff were friendly and helpful. We picked out a few donuts to bring back home for dessert.
I picked the s’more’s cake and to be honest, I didn’t finish it. I guess it wasn’t what I was expecting.
But my wife picked a dulce de leche (I believe) and she loved it. I’m pretty sure their donuts are good, I just didn’t pick the right flavor for me.
Definitely will have to go back and try again. There is plenty of parking here, it’s a shopping center!
I would recommend, just be sure of what you want I guess hahaha!

Update to review: visited a second time and was lucky enough to catch a fresh batch of banana foster fritters which blew me away. Perfect level of sweetness and hints of banana without the mushy flesh, and the donut had a fluffy sourdough interior. Because it was fresh it also didn’t taste as oily as before. Bumping up to 5 stars!

Donuts are great! Not sure if I agree with the title of best donuts in SoCal but the employees were super friendly, welcoming, and patient even though I was super indecisive! The donuts are a little too oily for my liking though, and the berry donut had good texture but the jam was not thick enough.

prob the best donuts i’ve ever had in my life. store is quite full (rightfully so), service is top notch everyone is super friendly, and the donuts are crunchy on the outside but super soft and fluffy inside! the maple donut is def my favourite! ♥️

The four of us tried blueberry lemon, brown butter salt, vanilla sprinkles, and Boston cream donuts. They were all delicious, soft, fresh, flavorful, and so unique not only from other donut shops but also from the other flavors. Everyone who worked there was so friendly and kind and the shop was clean and had lots of seating out front. Definitely a standout donut shop that I will be craving and revisiting.

My new favorite donuts in SoCal. The severs are so friendly. Donuts are delicious and are a perfect combination of flavor and texture… without being unnecessarily overwhelming or just loaded up with sugar or toppings.
Tried four donuts. First 3 were amazing. I like yeast donuts but the vanilla bean was just ok for me.

I tried their gluten-free vegan donuts, which are not only dairy-free but also egg-free and absolutely delicious. Although I’m unsure about whether the gluten-free vegan donuts are entirely Celiac-safe or if there’s any risk of cross-contamination, the taste alone makes them worth trying. The customer service here stood out as well. Despite a long line, every person who walked in was greeted warmly and told they’d be attended to shortly. I was impressed with how they made sure to acknowledge everyone, creating a welcoming atmosphere for all customers.
