Ate there tonight for the first time. They way exceeded our expectations. When we looked at the menu, we thought the prices were a little higher than we were expecting, but when we saw the portions, and with the salad bar included, the prices were more than fair. I had the chicken tenders, okra, and mashed potatoes w/gravy. All of it was really good. And wow, the chicken tenders were huge, fried perfectly, and not greasy at all, but not dry either. The salad bar (again included in the price) was all really fresh and a great addition. The caesar dressing was the best I’ve ever had, and i’m pretty picky about dressings. My buddy had the Cajun chicken pasta, Again it was was a huge portion with a good amount of chicken and was really, really good. Service was exceptional and the iced tea was as good as anybody’s in town. I hope people will give them a try.We need more good restaurants that aren’t chains in Kingsport. Soon they are going to start a lunch portion menu and offer breakfast as well. We will definitely be returning soon. Five stars all the way!!

My extended family and I had lunch on
New Year’s eve (2025) at John B.’s restaurant. We were able to use their private room for our 17 person gathering. Everyone enjoyed the food. The meals were all hot and delicious and the portions were very generous. The salad bar items were fresh and very tasty.
The wait staff was friendly and attentive. We all said we plan to return and recommend John B’s to anyone.

Don’t recommend the southern fried steak! But the Chopped hamburger steak with onions was Awesome…mashed potatoes are real and good..okra was good too. Hubby had apple glazed pork chops and they were moist and delicious!

We arrived around 6:00PM, wheelchair accessible, and were seated immediately. Plenty of seating options with tables, booths, and even private rooms for larger groups. Our hostess was very nice and attentive to taking our orders in a timely fashion and was quick to refill our drinks. It was not very crowded for a Saturday, but they may be subject to change. Unfortunately they were sold out of their special which was the pot roast, but I went with the chicken parmesan which did not disappoint! The breading was crispy, the cheese stretchy, the sauce was a little on the watery side but still maintained flavor. My boyfriend got a seafood plate with catfish, white fish, and shrimp with okra and collard greens- he cleaned his plate with nothing but praise, and each meal is accompanied with access to the salad bar.
