Want a fish restaurant in Harrogate then you will not beat this.
Food & service were fantastic
Recommend Queen scallops, Tuna scallop sesame for starters
Smoked Haddock, Hake for mains.
Baked Alaska is unreal for desert.

Excellent meal on Thursday Feb 19. I had smoked scallop and crab crostini followed by king prawn and crab linguine and my partner had moules, garlic, shallots in a cream sauce followed by smoked haddock, mash, pancetta, mustard sauce and a poached egg.
Service was attentive but not intrusive.

A fantastic restaurant in the centre of Harrogate – tucked away and very private, but food is delicious and the service warm and friendly. If you like fish, this is the place to visit! We’ll definitely be back for one of their platters on a sunny summer’s evening!

I had lunch at Drum and Monkey with my family. The portion sizes were decent and good value, but unfortunately the food itself was quite tasteless and lacked seasoning and depth of flavour, which was disappointing. Perhaps I should’ve chosen a different main.

That said, I absolutely cannot fault the service. Our waitress, Maria, was amazing — warm, attentive, and genuinely made us feel welcome throughout the meal. Her service was the highlight of the visit and really elevated the experience despite the food not quite delivering.

Perfect. This was just the ticket…. delicious food (seafood is the speciality, but there were non-seafood vegetarian options too) and friendly staff. I loved the decor, the background music and really enjoyed the lunchtime menu. I had the smoked scallop and crab terrine to start, followed by the delicious fish pie, topped with a generous layer of crispy cheese and a crisp white wine.

This place was recommended to me, and went there just for the seafood platter, and absolutely loved it. Lovely place, lovely atmosphere, and oh that seafood! Everything super fresh and tasty, and really great value for that quality and amount of food. Lovely wine selection, too, and staff were so friendly and flexible with our booking. Absolutely recommended!

My wife and I love this place, always excellent quality seafood and fantastic service.
My only problem is that the Dover Sole is so delicious and always cooked perfectly, that it makes it virtually impossible to not order it. I didn’t resist this time either and was not disappointed. My wife went for the cold seafood platter and we paired with a lovely bottle of Furleigh English sparkling wine.
If you want to treat yourself and/or others, you can’t make a better choice

I had a lovely dinner here a few weeks ago on a stopover in Harrogate on some business travel – Saturday night and though it was calm when we arrived, they were full throughout the evening from there on, so I do recommend booking as we had done. Overall, the food was very fresh and cooked very well – always something a little more tricky when it comes to fish restaurants in my opinion. Despite how busy it was, the staff were warm and very attentive – the ladies working on the upper floor that night clearly worked very well as a team. The baked alaska for dessert was a tad too sweet for mine and my dinner partners’ taste, but that’s certainly preference. If you like fish and seafood, you won’t go wrong with a visit here.

We were in Harrogate for the day and had heard about the D&M so called up to see if we could book for dinner. 5:30pm was the only table available but that was fine. On arrival it was quiet but expected as they had not been open long. The atmosphere felt a bit lacking but we sat down and were greeted warmly by the waitress. The menu is vast and obviously mostly fish but all very tempting. We were four people, so two went for Prawn Cocktail and one went for Lobster soup and I had Scallops all excellent. Main courses didn’t disappoint two time fish pie with some vegetable sides all piping hot, I went for Cod as did my friend we also went for some new potatoes (Very Good) The cod was outstanding, cooked to perfection with a beautifully subtle garnish and dressing, a really generous portion too 10/10 for that dish. Only two of us had room for dessert, Crumble and I went for affogato, Both lovely we had a fabulous bottle of rose and some coffees the bill was £210 so not cheap
But well worth it, The service was exceptional, both waitresses were so good, attentive, professional but had a laugh and looked to be enjoying their work. So nice to see. Would recommend a visit if your in harrogate.
