I’ve patronized this business since 2018, especially for my birthday since they have slices of Fraisier cake. Recently, I went in to pick up a pre-paid order. There were 4 employees (1 male, 3 females) behind the counter and I was the only customer (on a Saturday, 15 minutes before closing). Not one of them greeted me or asked to help. I announced that I was there to pick up an order and still no one acknowledged me. I stepped back and just stood there waiting for 2-3 minutes while they busied themselves chatting, making boxes, taping labels, and preparing another order. I felt a very weird vibe especially when the male and 2 females actually looked directly at me and continued on as if I wasn’t standing there. Finally, I was asked to be assisted and repeated that I was there to pick up an order.
She selected 2 items, boxed them and never once showed gratitude or warmth. I also noticed that there were 2 Sparrows flying around in the storefront display window in the connected storage building. That, plus the unprofessional and unpleasant reception was enough for me to leave the purchased items on a city bench instead of consuming. Patisserie Poupon will never get my money again.

Went here with my fiancé for a cake tasting for our wedding. Had a lovely time chatting with the manager and she gave us coffee to go with. We got to try 7 different cake flavors which were all delicious. The staff were very accommodating with our cake request and even suggested we could order a sheet cake to save money since we didn’t care about having a tiered cake. While we were there we saw lots of customers coming in and greeting the owner by name. Seems like a lovely community here! Have ordered from here before and definitely will again!

I didn’t want to make a review just based off of one impression so I’m making this after my second time here. I’ve tried both strawberry tart pastry and their macarons. I would say that their quality is about average and the service is lackluster at best. The macarons disappointed me more because they just didn’t taste that great, were expensive, and you couldn’t choose which ones you wanted (they come pre-packaged). If the food were better it would make up for the kinda bad service, but sadly it’s just overall a very underwhelming place.

Swing by this bakery that’s been highly recommended by many friends who work at the Hopkins. My problem was that I came in the late afternoon, 90 mins before they’re closed. Therefore, they ran out of classic and almond croissants. Fine, I picked Spinach & Ricotta, Apple turnover, and Walnut danish. I did not try any of their desserts as I would like to make sure I like their pastries first before overspending if unworthy. The bakeries look very outdated and needed a makeover. This is a 100% take out bakery. No standing or seating inside. After I got home, tried the spinach & ricotta croissant, which was excellent but could be better. The layers can be improved. The next morning, I tried the walnut danish and apple turnover. They are unusually not sweet compared to the normal pasties sold from other bakeries. This is a GOOD thing but may not be the preferred sweetness level for the majority.

There was a woman who was very unprofessional staffing the phone. Not only did she interrupt me, speak over me, then proceed to walk away in the middle of my question without warning, but she didn’t leave me on hold. This let me hear all her complaints and chatter with her co-worker for 5 minutes while I waited for her to step back. She never did. When I tried to call again, I was sent straight to voicemail. It seems as if she is the only staff member showing these behaviors consistently from what I’ve gathered, and she is damaging the business’ reputation singlehandedly.

I really love everything I get from this place, but I think people should be aware that they don’t have any sort of automatic reminder system when you order something online ahead of time. I placed an order for one of their limited time items a month ago and forgot to pick it up (which is obviously my fault ). They didn’t call to let me know about my mistake until after they had already closed and it’s two days until they are open again, so there was no option for me to pick it up first thing in the morning. So, as a heads up, set a reminder on your phone when you order ahead!

I’ve been a loyal customer to this pastry shop for a while now, often stopping by on my way to my nearby restaurant. My husband absolutely loves the pastries here, and I’ve made it a habit to pick some up whenever I can. But last week, I had an experience that left me deeply hurt and angry.

The staff member I dealt with that day was nothing short of rude. When I politely requested additional pastries, her response was nothing short of abusive. She screamed, “What are you mad about? Did I tell you I was done?” in front of my child and other customers, completely disregarding the fact that her behavior was not only unprofessional but also deeply offensive.

When i brought it up, she doubled down on her behavior instead of apologizing and then tried to offer my child some free cookies that I turned down (I am not a beggar and I can pay for anything I want). She basically called me an ANGRY BLACK WOMAN for no reason and tried to make it right with a COOKIE? Even more insulting.

This wasn’t an isolated incident. From the moment I walked in, her attitude was brash and dismissive. When I asked if they had more of a specific pastry, she snapped, “What you see here is all we have,” as if I was somehow inconveniencing her with my request. Her behavior was unacceptable, and it made me feel disrespected and degraded.

I feel disrespected and degraded, and I will no longer support a business that allows such toxic behavior. This incident has made me realize that I can no longer patronize this establishment. I urge others to be cautious of the treatment they may encounter here. This will be my last visit.
