Wife got big belly fried clams and I got chicken tenders. Both platters came with lots of fries. Claus could have been bigger but still tasty. Very popular for it’s ice cream as well.

Great little seafood shack with excellent clam strips, fries, and of course ice cream! Also there are flowers everywhere, perfect for my macro shots. We come up to Bristol at least once a year and Shackett’s is always on the agenda.

Shackett’s Seafood and Ice Cream Shack falls short of it’s namesake. The ice cream portions are small. The staff is all kids, we were greeted by a tween who was sitting on the inside of the service counter…after a good 15 seconds of standing there. The service didn’t improve with gems like “what do you guys want?” We weren’t thanked for our business or invited to come back again, well no worries, we probably won’t return after this experience.
Too bad the staff has no sense of respect for their business, or customer service, because the ice cream was actually quite good.

Staff members don’t have a care in the world, ordered an ice cream in a cone with whipped cream and after already serving ice cream into a cup said it was not possible, first of all nonsense never even heard of an ice cream place that does this, second he didn’t even give me a chance to reconsider if I didn’t want the cream, when I asked why this is he dismissed me and went back to his phone. Awful staffing, that alone, made the experience aggravating.

I can’t remember the last time I regretted eating somewhere, but this was it. The service was lovely, and no offense to the hard working teenagers working in that hot shack with the friers going, but we all wished we hadn’t eaten there. The fried clams were charcoal–way over fried. The chicken tenders were pretty good, and the hot dog was… well, it’s a hot dog. Thin wimpy fries. I greatly appreciated the server who steered us away from some ice cream flavors because those were “too artificial tasting” (e.g., southern peach), but we found our ultimately-chosen four flavors to be similarly fake. We laughed about the experience afterwards, which was the best part of the entire experience.

So typically we go there for the ice cream because it is the best around. However, we decided to have dinner there. They have the best lobster roll I have ever seen. Heaped high with chunk lobster special sauce! Superb! We also had the sausage sub and macaroni bites which are really fantastic! Shacketts is awesome!

Skip it. Overpriced freezer burned child portions. The fish in thr fish and chips was a boxed grocery store quality and about 3 inches by 4 inches…smaller than a pop tart and underwhelming. The fries are freezer burned and chewy, the clam belly meal was just sad. There were about 6 burned crispy clumps paired with the chewy fries and nowhere near worth over $22. The lobster roll was ok, but once again..very small. The clam chowder was not even a cup, it was clearly canned and served in a condiment container that you usually get duck sauce in at a Chinese takeout,and I’ve heard the ice cream here us in very small portions as well. We got our food, took a few bites and chucked it and ordered a Pizza from down the street.

My family and I went last weekend and it was moderately busy. Half of us got our ice cream pretty quick. First issue: my ice cream had pretty bad freezer burn and a funny taste. Second issue: my younger sister (who coincidentally recommended the place), her husband, and my older sister and niece waited for 25 minutes to get their ice cream and small order of french fries. Meanwhile, 13 people showed up, ordered, and got their ice cream and food. My sisters went up and asked about the status several times and just got clueless faces and nonanswers. Finally the manager talked to the (seemingly) 12 year old employee and he said he didn’t realize he needed to make anything!! Then he made the wrong order twice before delivering the correct order. I’m all for giving young adults a shot but you either need to train them better or ensure that someone is there to help out. Will not be going back.

The lobster roll had bits of shell throughout. The clam roll was ok, but not worth the money. The hot fudge sundae had clumps of cold fudge. Obviously someone did not turn on the heating unit. If the employees spent more time working than sitting and socializing with their friends at the tables, things may have improved. Will NOT go again, and will NOT recommend to anyone!
