We chanced upon this rustic market (small one) and restaurant while on thr way to Munch Museum.

We knew we had to try the cod but we didnt want just the “usual”. Saw on the menu of the day (3 days back) Cod’s Tongue and was intrigued as fish don’t have tongues!

Ordered both the Cod Tongue and Snow Crab.

The Cod Tongue did not disappoint! Listed as small bite, 3 pcs were served (suggestion – 4 is optimal). Turns out it is really the flesh around the cheek which the chef probably had to specially carve out and age. Very nice bite to it. Wasnt overly fried thankfully

Snow crab was good too esp the butter garlic sauce but not great tbh. The chef was thoughtful to crack the legs at points where we could just pull the flesh out nicely (much like king crabs).

Forgot to show our Oslo Pass to get 20% off!! Haha.

Nonetheless we went back again for lunch yesterday and had most of the starters (that plate of oysters).

Thanks to our server from Sweden for taking care of us (the extra sourdough bread to soak up the butter garlic and aioli)

Probably one of the best meals that we had on our trip to Norway was our very first night in Oslo at Fiskeriet. We did not have a reservation, but luckily they managed to fit us in at a shared table. This place is extremely popular so I would highly recommend making a reservation.

To start, we ordered the cod croquettes to share. Perfectly fried and golden brown, these croquettes were absolutely delicious and the accompanying sauce paired perfectly.

For our entrées, I ordered the fish and chips while my husband ordered the creamy fish soup and my father ordered the fish gratin. All three dishes were fresh and delicious, but I think the fish gratin was my favorite.

So if you find yourself an Oslo looking for a delicious meal down by the water, come check out Fiskeriet.

Arrived at 12 noon and was the first customer. Got a seat in a corner. A bit squeezy given that we were the first group of customers. Good wise, we ordered the creamy mussels, fish soup and fish & chips. The creamy mussels are fresh and the broth goes very well with bread. The fish soup tasted more like vegetables soup. Fish and chips looks delicious.

We visited around 2:00 p.m. By then, the lunch rush had passed, and there were only about three or four other groups besides us, so we received very smooth and attentive service.

We ordered the salmon tataki sashimi, fish and chips, and the Rogn Snack. All three dishes were excellent in terms of freshness, presentation, and seasoning.

What impressed me most was that although the restaurant has an upscale feel, it never feels intimidating or unapproachable.

Oslo was my first stop of a 17-day Scandinavia trip. The fish soup here was among the best of all fish soups I had tasted throughout my journey. The salmon was super fresh and the assorted herbs really aromatic. Special shoutout to Shaq who went beyond the call of duty to serve us. We only ordered 2 dishes to share but he took the initiative to split the dishes for us and had them plated nicely. Thank you, Shaq!

After exploring the Munch Museum, we stumbled upon this hidden gem of a restaurant. The mussels, salmon, and snow crab were all incredibly fresh and delicious. My son particularly savoured the fish and chips. The friendly and welcoming staff made our first day in Oslo truly enjoyable.

We loved this place! We went for dinner after vising the Munch Museum, it is only 4 minutes away. We tried “creamy fish soup”, “creamy mussels” and “fish and chips”. All super tasty. The warm soup was what we needed after a cold day in Oslo. Mussels come in a big bowl, very tasty.
The staff is lovely and kind. Prices are average.
Definitely recommended.

The meals are not only looking wonderful and well presented, they are also big enough for the price. Price may be high, but it was totally worth it for a really nice dinner with delicous and extravagant meals.
The crab was very fresh and delicious!

The staff is very friendly and pleasent.

The ambiente is delightful, later at the evening they are dimming the light just perfectly. Music is mild rock and pop that fits perfectly for a nice evening with your friends or a date.
