A bit of a personal obsession was touched with vintage aprons on the walls. Since a charming touch as decor.
As a first time visitor every thing was lovely. Our 8 year old grandson enjoyed a weekend special; Hot Cocoa Pancakes, big thumbs up. Super fluffy and moist, no syrup needed. Nonno and I (Nana) had Salmon and eggs, Classic Eggs Benedict. Each plate came with choice of sides.

This is my favorite place to go with my friends to have an amazing breakfast, in Oakland! All the flavors are naturals, everything always fresh! 1000% recommend. LOVE THIS PLACE!

Excellent traditional breakfast/lunch/ brunch food! When I frequent restaurants I pay attention to the staff and how well they service their customers! I worked at a restaurant for 10 years in the 80’s so I know the work that goes into running a successful restaurant business. Mama’s Royal Cafe has top notch staff that are very attentive and courteous! If you want good traditional food with great service then I highly recommend this cafe! Btw, the mocha latte I ordered was better tasting than Starbucks! Just saying.

Was our 1st time here… enjoyed the food & service. omelets (5 stars) , sausage sandwich (5 stars) biscuits & gravy (3 stars…gravy was a brown mushroom gravy) .. can get pricey if u build your own omelet! $169 for 4 adults, 2 small kids. Nice atmosphere & servers were very friendly and attentive.

I’m not a fan. Service wasn’t the best. Sat down ordered with a female waitress, food was delivered by a guy who seemed to have taken over for the lady. Found hair in my fruit as soon as he placed it down. He took it back, and no apology replaced it with some fruit that looked like it sat out for a while.
Food lacked flavor.
When we paid, the guy charged us the wrong bill. Again, no apology, nothing. Won’t be back!

Fun little hole in the wall. Staff were friendly and attentive. The food was decent, but could use more seasoning. Lots of menu options, including vegetarian and vegan options. Atmosphere has an old school diner vibe.

Great food, ambience and service! We went in around noon for brunch on a Saturday, got seated right away and our food arrived pretty quickly after. We had a group of 6 people after us and they got seated pretty quickly too. We order a freshly squeezed orange juice that was fresh (and not too sweet). I got a veggie meal and my partner got a frittata. Both were great! They have cute decor inside which was nice too

I’m vegan, visiting Oakland from Los Angeles but am from Philly and this place hit the diner spot!! Perfect atmosphere and vibe, I felt so cozy. The staff were very nice, considerate and knowledgeable of their menu. I got the tofu scramble with potatoes and sourdough bread. They asked if I wanted sour cream so I could say no. They do not default put butter on the toast so no need to clarify that. The tofu was so delicious and flavorful as were the potatoes. Some of the best tofu scramble I’ve had. They had a delicious home made salsa on the table that I drenched everything in. And huge portions!! I’m so satisfied and comfortable and now I’m sleepy lol. Delicious coffee as well. Long live Mama’s!

This is an amazing Oakland landmark dinner with great eats and fast and friendly service. They have some cute booths and a fun vintage frilly apron wall. The orange juice is always fresh squeezed and the bacon is to die for.
