Po’ boy was incredible. The slaw excellent. I’ll be back for sure. The atmosphere got a 4 out of 5 because they could add a little something to make it more inviting. I guess who cares when the food is so good. Oh, the hush puppies were the best I’ve ever had. I could eat a basket full.

Found this gem on the drive back from hiking Old Rag. Amazing food, crab cakes were delicious, mac n cheese on point – everything home made. Food was out fast, Chris the owner had amazing customer service skills. Great southern hospitality.
Came in hungry, left so full.

I was in Warrenton for less than 24 hours and the ratings, in addition to my love of crab, drew me into Talk of the Mountain. I was really hungry so I got the 8oz crab cake with one side and three hush puppies. No joke, I was doing a happy dance while eating (and I was alone!). The crap cake is no frills and truly crab without all of the filler so you get a lot of delicious crab and seasoning. I sometimes love or hate hush puppies and I devoured these right up. Great corn flavor rather than just breading or fryer taste. Mac n cheese was great too!
Very no frills, casual, and friendly vibe, which was exactly what I was looking for. Everyone was friendly and I’m so glad I made this my one dinner while in town!

Today was the first time my hubby and I ate at this restaurant. It was fantastic. I ordered the creamy garlic shrimp boil that has 1/2 lb. of shrimp with corn, potatoes, and sausage. My husband ordered the crab cake platter. His sides were the cole slaw, smoked mac and cheese and hush puppies. I sampled his food and he sampled mine. I LOVED the hush puppies. I NEVER eat hush puppies because I don’t even like them like that. I always hated hush puppies. However, these were delicious. Sweet like sweet cornbread with corn kernels inside. I’m weak for corn. The cole slaw was sweet and delicious also. The crab cake was FAT–NO FILLER. At all. Scrumptious. The shrimps I ordered were fat. The corn was sweet. The garlic sauce was nice and mellow flavor with spice. The sodas were ice cold. Five out of five stars for me. Check them out.

My fifth or sixth trip, I think I’ve tried everything on the menu now. Favorite is still the crab cakes with nothing but crab meat, lobster roll is great, I love their greens most of the time (little bland once), excellent today. Mac n cheese, Cole slaw and hush puppies are great. Much better organized than my first couple trips. We continue to frequent

I have never quite forgotten the crab cake I had purchased from the Talk of The Mountain food truck at a local VA neighborhood winery, due to the fact, Talk of The Mountain does not skimp on the crab in their crab cakes at all. In addition it is rather tasty.
So a weekend IG post of their lobster roll left me salivating, making it an easy decision to round up for a family outing to their newest restaurant location in Warrenton, VA.
Happy to mention that this new location can be accessed from either South Second Street or Culpeper Street in Old Town Warrenton, VA. Therefore easy access to parking and also offering quick accessibility for food pick ups.
The South Second Street entrance leads customers directly into the restaurant while customers who enter the Culpeper Street entrance do need to walk down a slight hallway to be greeted by Chris upfront.
Our family ordered 3 lobster rolls. A lobster roll order comes with a choice of one side.
The lobster roll was in a brioche hot dog bun, and provides at least 2 lumps of lobster claws and shredded lobster, drizzled with a not over the top garlic sauce and a tad bit of slaw.
My husband opted to try their crab cake instead of having the bread which accompanied the lobster roll. He was impressed by the sheer amount of crab which came with a dipping sauce!
Side options:
Mac n Cheese: (thankfully, not the box kind). The real home made southern kind, flavorful and cheesy.
Hush puppies: with bits of corn but what I loved was the exterior crunch! Yummy. I see myself eating a lot more of those in my future
Coleslaw: I did not have but my husband and kids loved.
Neither of us tried their collard greens and potato salad but I intend to try soon enough!
‘Though newly opened, the restaurant does seem to be coming together.
I am happy that on my regular visits to Warrenton, I can get some very delicious seafood and southern sides! I’d eat this over any of the usual chain restaurants any time.

Great food. Disappointed that every photo on their website shows crab cakes served as a sandwich but when my order didn’t come with bread. The server said I needed to ask for that but how else was I suppose to know? All in all, it’s expensive AND you don’t get enough food. I can usually do one or the other but never both.

Walked in and immediately greeted by warm friendly hellos. Ordered the Crab Cake platter and saw that the supreme platter included shrimp (which were huge!). Everything was tasty and very flavorful from the hush puppies to the collards and potato salad. This Maryland girl admits it was the best crab cake ever. NO FILLERS- just crab!
If you are passing through Warrenton, or even if you aren’t, do not miss Talk of the Mountain. You will not be disappointed.

The food is fabulous. Best crab cake I’ve had in a long time. Shrimp were generous and juicy too. The garlic butter shrimp sauce delicious. Coleslaw, Collards and Mac & Cheese YUM!
Service was help yourself to a menu, order at the counter and they bring it to you.
Atmosphere could use some help. Literally a hole in the wall with wobbly tables. Paper servings baskets & plastic utensils.
Only one restroom and the door doesn’t close.
This food is simply too good to be served like fast food. Hope they gain popularity enough to earn a better location.

We each ordered the 8oz crab cake super platter (2 hush puppies, 6 *big* shrimp, and 2 huge sides) and it was beyond delicious. Will definitely be back!
