Went for lunch and it was good dosa, idli and medu vada. The service was good. They bring food out as it’s ready. The malai kulfi was delicious and so was the rose pistachio cardamom kulfi. The menu is short and is focused on Bangalore style dosa.

After hearing great things from a friend about their South Indian staples, I finally visited this nice restaurant that perfectly blends the efficiency of a fast-food joint with the hospitality of a full-service dining establishment. I initially expected a counter-service setup where I would pay first, but I was surprised to be greeted and seated by a server who took my order and brought everything directly to the table. The menu is intentionally curated and literally short, focusing on south Indian essentials like idli, vada, dosa, chai, and select desserts and Ice creams. I am so glad I decided to stop in because the idli and vada combo, specifically the podi idli, was outstanding; the idlis were notably larger than what I have eaten at other restaurants and were steamed to a perfect, spongy consistency. I was actually so hungry and excited when the food arrived that I completely forgot to take pictures before I started eating, so I am only posting video of the restaurant itself to show the environment. While the dosa was equally impressive and the restaurant follows the traditional practice of offering unlimited sambar and chutneys, I found the chutneys to be a bit standard and the sambar leaned slightly toward the sweeter side, though the overall flavor profile remained excellent. What truly stood out, however, was the impeccable cleanliness—I would easily give the environment a 10/10 rating for how spotless it was—and even the disposable dinnerware felt premium and high-quality. Considering the generous portions and the high standard of the food, the prices are incredibly reasonable to the point where I wonder how they maintain such value, and I would absolutely recommend this as a must-try restaurant for anyone seeking a top-tier South Indian idli dosa sambhar .

Hands down one of the most authentic South Indian spots I’ve come across in the US. I’ve never had dosa, idli, and vada that tasted this close to what you get in Bangalore or anywhere in Karnataka. The masala in the dosa was spot on, the sambar had that perfect depth, and the chutneys were just right.

Coming from New York, I haven’t found anything that matches this level of authenticity. Huge credit to the chef and team for staying true to the flavors. It brought back so many memories of home-cooked food in Bangalore.

This place is seriously underrated. It has become my go-to spot whenever I’m in the area and I always look forward to coming back. If you’re someone who appreciates real South Indian food, this place is a must-visit.

Their staff are kind and welcoming, making it even more dear to the heart

Tiffin Hut in Herndon is such a fun spot if you’re craving South Indian comfort food, especially dosa and idli. The place has a chill café vibe, stays open late on weekends, and is perfect for a quick bite or hanging out with friends over chai.

The benne dosa and other Bangalore-style dosas are crispy, flavorful, and come out fresh, and the chutneys and sambar actually taste homemade instead of generic. Service is friendly, the space feels clean and welcoming, and prices are reasonable for the quality, so it’s easy to see this becoming a regular go-to for dosa, bun maska, and late-night cravings.

Absolutely fresh and yummy home like food.

Ordered ghee podi idli and man! It was the best thatte idli I’ve ever had! even more than Indian ones back home. Soooo sooooo soft and melts in mouth, the idli.

Masala benne dosa – You could use the dosa as a mirror for fitcheck! It was so glossy and yummy! The masala filling was also perfect.

Both the idli and dosa are served with a peanut chutney, sambar and coconut chutney. Sambar could be a bit better.

Irani chai was underwhelming. Bun maska was good with it though. Filter coffee was good, like typical chennai / bangalore style. To keep up with all the yummy food and authenticity, they can improve further by serving filter coffee in traditional davara sets. Just to elevate the experience more.

Ambience was good, like a bustling tiffin shop in India. The food truly took us back home to India. Will definitely be coming back. And, the highlight is that the menu is very short and to the point. This helps them to really pay attention to all the food served, so that everything is fresh and hot.

Will definitely be coming back.

The benne podi masala dosa and the ghee podi thatte idli were AMAZING. Not your typical dosa spot, the benne dosas are a lot heavier than your standard dosa, so definitely go hungry! Their sambar was spot on and perfectly paired w the dosa and idli. The only con was their filter coffee, which was a bit lackluster after the food – but doesn’t take away from the overall experience.

We tried the Plain Benne Dosa, Karampodi Masala Dosa, Bun Maska, and Irani Chai. Both dosas were delicious, and the chutney along with the sambar added an extra burst of flavor that made them even better. The Bun Maska and Irani Chai combo was simply perfect — a deadly pairing that was super delicious and satisfying. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the ambiance was pleasant, making it a great overall experience.

Time to water < 1 minute.

Pretty good breakfast food. Vada was too heavy for me, favorite has to be the kaaram masala dosa, potato texture is a nice smooth yet moderately thick consistency. Ghee podi idli is a very soft texture.

For the chutney, coconut was my favorite, was “clearer”, so the spices stood out a lot more.

Chai is good too.

Matka ice cream is creamy and tasty.

The place is amazing. One of the best place for a south India cuisine. I personally loved the dosa and Zafrani Irani chai. Idli and vada is amazing too. Sambar and chutney ( coconut and groudnut) were too good. In short everything we ordered and tried was amazin. Price is decent and worth for the amazing food they deliver.

Bangalore boy here, absolutely loved what they served! Very authentic tasting south Indian food, and was very delicious! Only gripe, wish the masala dosa has a red chutney in it, but otherwise, fantastic food at amazing prices! Filter coffee was delicious as well – will be my go to for south Indian vegetarian food!
