Amber Your Westside Homegirl

I stopped by Continental Seafood on Bankhead to finally try it out since it’s a well-known spot on the Westside.

First thing I want to mention is the customer service — the cashier had a beautiful spirit. She greeted everyone who walked in, was very kind, and made the experience welcoming. That alone goes a long way.

As for the food, I ordered the turkey necks with corn, potatoes, and broccoli. They were okay — not bad, but not something I would rush back for. We also tried the fried shrimp and fries, and I could tell I came later in the evening because the fried food didn’t taste as fresh. The grease seemed old, which affected the flavor.

That said, I’m trying to be fair. I came toward the end of the night, so I don’t want to judge the place completely off that visit. I plan to come back earlier in the day when they first open to see if the food quality is different, because fresh grease and fresh batches definitely matter.

I’m from the Westside and I really want to support places in my area. This visit just wasn’t my favorite, but I can see how others may enjoy it — especially if they come at the right time.

I’ll update my review after I give it another try.

I took a few of my church members up there with me who were volunteering with our food pantry to get them something to eat. Because we had a long days of work when we got our food, we did not eat anything while we was there because we had to go work. So we decided to eat it later. Contact the restaurant within the same day to tell them that we had our food and we noticed that it was hair in one plate and the two fried plates, they put too much seasoning, so the food was extremely salty. Then, when it came down to my food, I ask them for very mild because I cannot have any spice and they decide to give me medium. I asked a gentlemen, could I have something that was no spicy just garlic? He told me it’s not that spicy, but it was. Very disappointed because they explained to me that if you did not try your food while you were there or call before 5 hours, then there is nothing that they can do even though we still had the food
and the hair. It was only 4 pm we went at ll:35 am that day. I have decided to not return to this restaurant. That is not how you do your customers. They could’ve just offer a 10 to 20% off our next meal, which would have been more accommodating, but to find hair in the food that is not good.

It’s not in the best neighborhood, but the food is always good. I love their crawfish, fried ocean perch, and fried shrimp combo always hit! Definitely my go to spot for good and affordable seafood.

This place was okay. Customer service was ok as well. I ordered 2 fried tilapia meals that came with fries, I ordered a side of hush puppies, a slice of red velvet cake, a side of coleslaw, 2 orders of broccoli, corn and potatoes and 2 lemonades. THE tilapia was good, the fries were trash, the hush puppies weren’t done in the middle, the cake was ok, the coleslaw was spoiled that as soon as I tasted it, I hurried and spit it out, but the broccoli, corn and potatoes and lemonade were great. They charge for every single sauce. I spent about $45 which in my opinion is ridiculous. They accept EBT. They know exactly what they’re doing in the hood. Iykyk…….

The prices are too high for the seafood. Definitely overpriced. Especially when you’re buying everything with food stamps and paying cash to have the food cooked. The fried fish was cooked too hard along with the fried lobster tail and okra. We spent too much money to make mistakes with the food temperature and appearance.

The food here is mediocre. I don’t know how they have so many reviews saying the food is great. If you’re use to Juicy Crab and the places alike you’re going to be DISAPPOINTED when you spend the money on this food. The best party of my seafood platter was the broccoli enough said. Don’t waste your time or money with this place. Trust me on this one!! The quality was so poor you could probably make better seafood at home. The only way I can see someone saying this place is good is if they’ve never had good seafood. I’m trying to warn you like I wish I would’ve been warned. DON’T DO IT.

I’ve only gave one star due to I had to choose. Scallops are old and red snapper fish looks old. I tried to get a refund and the Mexican guy told me don’t come back. I was told to wait for a hour to get my money back. Still had to pay a 1.50 for them to cook your food, don’t they suppose to cook it anyway!

This place is unprofessional & shiesty! The cashier Keisha is very rude! I bought 1lb of crawfish the first 2 times & they came with majority of whole crawfish! The third time I came & ordered 1lb of crawfish again just to have majority of claws instead whole crawfish ! The cashier Keisha tells me that the 1lb crawfish comes with 10 whole crawfish! I’m like how is that when you have to weigh them. This place is very unprofessional! I will not order food from them if I was you.!
