We ordered three desserts, and every single one was delicious. I loved it! I will definitely come back.
This place offers a wide variety of dishes, include curry rice plate, and I think you can definitely have a full meal here. I really love this place.
A server approached rudely, asked if we were together, and demanded we move to a larger table because we were “taking up two small ones.” After we moved, she grabbed the check, added an 18% gratuity automatically, and claimed that anyone sitting at the table is charged service—like a buffet(really? in a dessert shop)—even though I hadn’t ordered anything and was just waiting.
When I said I wasn’t eating and would wait in my car instead, she became even more pissed, accusing us of being rude for not “waiting upfront” when we entered the empty shop. The situation escalated with her, I suggested canceling the order and leaving due to her awful attitude. She got angry, yelled that the food was already being prepared, threatened to call the police if we didn’t pay, and followed us outside while on the phone with 911, taking photos of us and claiming she was scared to 911 like we were chasing her.
We hadn’t received any food or consumed anything yet—just a check . Just to de-escalate, my dad had me go back in pay , and take the order to go. The server was extremely unprofessional throughout and should never be working in hospitality.
For future reference, customers in California generally have the right to cancel a restaurant order and leave without paying if no food has been served or consumed.
You can see from the photos I took—while walking back inside to pay and de-escalate—that the server was chasing us outside and yelling at us.
The only thing that was a little annoying was that they cook directly in front of the tables where you sit, and the air at that place gets hot and smells like the toast. No big deal though I am just nitpicking. There are other seating options available as well. Will try those next time.
If you’re craving something refreshing and a little unique, this is a must-try.
2. The portion was very small, even though we ordered the “large.” Definitely overpriced for what it was.
3. On top of that, there were quite a few small insects flying around, which made the experience uncomfortable.
We opted for the Salted Egg Custard Toasted and the Thai Tea Bingsu. The Thai Tea Bingsu was a letdown. Served in a cup and overloaded with crystal boba, it felt more like a novelty item than a well-crafted dessert. The boba overwhelmed the Thai tea flavor, which, while present, wasn’t particularly remarkable. Eating it out of a cup also proved to be less than ideal.
The Salted Egg Custard Toasted was decent, with the vanilla ice cream being a highlight. However, there was a noticeable chalky texture that detracted from the overall experience. While the flavors were there, the texture was off-putting.
Adding to the less-than-stellar experience was the incredibly loud and obnoxious group seated next to us. They made it nearly impossible to have a conversation and really took away from any potential enjoyment of the meal.
Overall, Naya Dessert Cafe was just “decent.” While the service was quick and the seating prompt, the desserts themselves didn’t quite live up to expectations, and the atmosphere was less than ideal.
