Celebrated my 50th birthday tonight here. Started with cocktails. The blue cheese stuffed olive dirty martini and a whiskey sour made with egg white. Then we ordered the crudo and the beef tartar. Perfect amount of citrus and two more slices of bread would have been perfect for the tartar. We then went for the Caesar salad. This is not your ordinary Caesar salad. The perfect balance of dressing with the gorgeous pink radicchio. The croutons and I had a moment and I don’t even like croutons! Next, we opted for the roasted sweet potatoes with a pepita crunch. So delicious and filling. Last, we shared the duck pasta. The pasta was perfectly al dente, duck crispy and tender and the sauce rich and flavorful. We wanted dessert but there was no room. They did bring me a gorgeous little lemon panna cotta type dessert as a happy birthday with a candle. Our service was impeccable and he didn’t rush us or make us feel anything but joy! The playlist was amazing and this restaurant has a swagger, a groove with incredible food.

We celebrated my birthday at The Admiral last night and had an amazing experience. The food was outstanding, we ordered the special of the day, and everything was delicious. The complimentary champagne and sweet potatoes with sausage were such a thoughtful and delicious touch. Excellent wine, impeccable service, and a truly memorable evening. Highly recommend!

Visiting from south Florida and so happy we tried The Admiral! Everything from the food to the service was amazing! The anchovy tartine was delicious, my husband and I both got the steak frites which were cooked to perfection, and to finish we got the ice cream sundae which was the cherry on top to this meal! (Pun intended!) We will definitely be coming back when we’re in the area again!

Since moving to Asheville a couple years ago, I was really looking forward to visiting the Admiral after hearing so many good things. My partner and I booked a table online for my birthday, and per Resy’s queries, I indicated that my partner could not eat milk or cheese and that we were celebrating a birthday. Neither of these details were acknowledged during our visit. When ordering our meal, both starters and entrees, our server indicated that it wouldn’t be a problem omitting cheese from a couple of dishes. Unfortunately, the kitchen did not agree and we were then severely limited in options. We eventually compromised and ended up ordering dishes that were acceptable vs. what we had hoped to have. Our server couldn’t have been nicer about the situation, and the food we had was great, but the overall experience was definitely diminished and dampened the celebratory spirit of the evening. We skipped dessert altogether and called it a night. Hoping for a better experience next time when the menu is more agreeable.

We had an incredible dining experience. The food was delicious! Our server, Abbey, was fantastic. She was very friendly, helpful, and patient. She is very good at her job. We were treated with warm welcoming smiles when we arrived. The hostess was very friendly and gave a very kind birthday wish (we had made a reservation and noted that we were celebrating). Our meals were wonderful! I enjoyed the black cod, it was cooked perfectly. I really enjoyed the combination of the fish with the airy puree, it made the dish feel very light and delicate. The duck cavatelli was made very well. There was a perfect balance of chorizo to the duck, very yummy. We ordered the pawpaw crème brûlée which we never had before, it was very nice. It was very good as a crème brûlée but the ginger cookies that were served alongside really elevated the dish. We just can’t say enough good things about our dining experience at The Admiral and we look forward to our next visit.

What a fantastic meal! We definitely over ordered, but it was worth it. The mussels and oysters are fresh and so flavorful. Every dish we had was incredibly tasty. I think the menu might change slightly as compared to the one on their website, possibly for seasonality. We had a sweet potato appetizer with whipped feta that was incredible. The roast chicken was cooked perfectly, and was seasoned well. The cocktails were tasty and strong. The service was fantastic. The atmosphere warm, intimate, with a thoughtful playlist setting the mood.
I absolutely recommend this fine restaurant!

Last Thursday evening my family arrived at The Admiral without reservations after a booking snafu at a nearby restaurant. On learning about our predicament, the hostess, Kat, was incredibly understanding and did her best to turn our night around despite a large party and pretty limited options. She graciously set us up in the front room along the window and we ordered cocktails – relieved to have our night back on track. Our server was excellent and the food and drinks were great. As luck would have it there was a cancellation and we were moved to a table just before our entrees came. What was a bit of a bummer night became a memorable evening marked by exceptional hospitality. I know we all look forward to returning. Thank you all!

We were visiting Asheville from Raleigh NC and Washington DC to celebrate a friend’s birthday. The Admiral was planned as a festive and delicious destination to honor him. I was previously at the restaurant summer 2025, sat at the bar, and had a transformative experience that I shared with all my friends. The night we attended in early January 2026, as before, gave us the same loving energy – the lighting, decor, ceilings- the overall feeling of the restaurant was just as magical. The five of us enjoyed cocktails (me – a wonderful Paper Plane) and wine – I think a bit of prosecco too! Our server was extremely attentive and the bartenders bringing our drinks to the table was such a finessed approach to personalized service. We loved our carrots and Caesar salad appetizers! That Caesar is super tasty and the pink radicchio gave it a surprising color twist with the mounds of parmesan cheese. We got an array of entrees- the short rib, chicken, burger, cod, and mussels! My chicken was cooked beautifully in a velvety sauce, crispy skin (which I love) and with carefully roasted brussels sprouts. While the chicken was tasty, I would have loved a bit more salt – on the bird and in the sauce. Regardless, it was such a beautiful plate. My friend enjoyed the mussels with funky notes but also wanted a bit more salt. Everything else was cooked to perfection and everything was highly enjoyable! The Admiral is one of my favorite Asheville restaurants and I look forward to my next visit and meal!! I wish them all the best. They’ve got a special thing going!!

We went to the Admiral for the first time in 2021 when visiting Family in Asheville.
We loved it. But not so much since we moved here two years ago, it has definitely changed.
Of course, prices are up everywhere, but I’m talking about quality.
First of all, I’m a huge fan of steak tartar. Remember that old commercial in the early 80s, where is the beef? That’s how I would describe the steak tartare at the admiral.
And the cocktails! If you want an old-fashioned with a huge ice cube and a little bourbon pour over it then you’re gonna love it! Sorry to say, we will not be going back anytime soon.

The atmosphere on a crisp winter day made for a most memorable anniversary dinner. Our server was incredibly kind and pleasant. Our halibut in its artichoke sauce was amazing – we licked our plates clean! We were so surprised when we were brought a delicious dessert and a candle were brought out after we had eaten. The Admiral never ceases to please!
