Kathy’s Crab House has been serving Delaware for quite awhile. They are known for their steamed blue crabs, but also serves snow crabs as well. But for this occasion, we’ve decided to try some of the other offerings on their menu.
Besides crabs, they do offer seafood platter, crab cakes, and fish/chips. The portions were good and dishes were done nicely, and the service was attentive. But the main attraction for this establishment are the steamed crabs.

Update 09/14/25: Google asked me for an update. Not a ton to update. Same great food and nice people. I did something today I never do. I had some of my wife’s crabs. Fortunately, my wife who is talented at tearing them open, did the work for me. No question, they were good, but I’ll still stick to the stuffed and individual flounder fillets!
Always enjoy myself here. The family and I have e been coming to Kathy’s since we randomly discovered it probably four to five years ago. The food is always great and they’re an extremely patriotic group of individuals, always catering to our men and women in uniform, just the way it should be.
UPDATE: Still a decent place to munch after being closed for a year or so. Kathy is back to running it.

Delicious! We shared the special – six crabs, shrimp, clams, corn and fries – and it was so good! Our server was outstanding. She even showed us how to eat the crabs, since we’d never had this kind before. It was a fun experience and the food was very good.

This place did not disappoint! The food was absolutely delicious! The staff was so welcoming and friendly. My husband got a crab cake sandwich and I got the crab bisque and snow crab legs. All the food was incredible, flavorful and fresh. These were some of the best snow crab legs I’ve ever had. We will absolutely be returning the next time we are in Delaware.

Had a semi- large crowd celebrating a special moment. We sat on the screen patio. The staff was friendly and welcoming to our group. The food was excellent. The environment was comfortable and nautical theme. I love the small hometown feel. They had a car show event going on with a live DJ. The parking was accessible and a very inviting atmosphere.

Laid back, casual, local hideaway with great food and affordable prices. Perfect place to bring family or friends for relaxing over a good meal. Three seating areas (inside, room of windows, and a screened in patio). Fresh eggs and crabs, You can see the water from the parking lot! Friendly. Love the flounder, crab cakes, and BLTs. Perfect stopping point on the bike path, yes they have bike racks. And serve a wide assortment of adult beverages too 🙂

We stopped for lunch on the way to delaware City to visit Fort Delaware. Dinning area was very clean and the waitress was polite. I had Maryland crab soup and the sampler platter and she had the crab cake salad…prices were very reasonable as we live in the beach area and are use to seafood prices being a little inflated. Not here…food was delicious. We will stop here next time we are in the area

High quality, reasonably priced fresh seafood in a homey atmosphere. You feel like you’re in a cozy diner, but you’re served high quality seafood restaurant food. Their hush puppies are the best I’ve ever had, a perfect crunchy bite and moist flavorable center. My catfish portion was generous and cooked to perfection. Table near me had steamed crabs and they looked and smell great. The corn nuggets were savory little fritter bites that were satisfying to bite into.
