Reviews
Overall, you get decent, consistent food at a low price, and you can eat a bit of everything, which is the best part! And plenty of parking is nice too. It is also fairly good for families with young kids too.
That said, for the top-tier price point, the overall experience felt fairly average. The dishes were satisfactory but not particularly memorable, with flavors leaning towards standard rather than refined. Presentation and details were somewhat basic, and the atmosphere, while fine, didn’t quite deliver the sense of premium dining one might expect at this price range.
In summary, Kisha Poppo is a solid choice if you’re looking for a casual all-you-can-eat sushi spot for friends or family. It does the job, but if you’re seeking a more refined or high-end Japanese dining experience, you may find the value a little underwhelming.
Just a heads-up if you’re doing all-you-can-eat: in our experience, you have to order more than you actually want to get the amount you’re hoping for. For example, order 20 avocado rolls to receive 6 and this wasn’t just a one time thing
Overall, it’s fine if you know what to expect.
Only thing i didnt like was the zaru soba – too salty as the noodles are served in the bowl of sauce
Recommend: chicken katsu, yam tempura, gyoza
Food is expensive nowadays so I will compare what I got here for the pay $48/head vs. what I would have had gotten for a similar price.
Sashimi looked very ayce like, and I worried it might be fishy but actually surprisingly not. The sockeye salmon was from frozen stock, but it’s not too mushy and had a pretty clean smell. Tuna had some connecting tissues but mostly fine.
The sushi I believe was actually hand made not machine made (the rice). The fish on top was not too thin. Scallop and masago cones had quite a bit of filling and not just all rice.
Hot food pretty fair as well.
Obviously there are better places for more money, but for this price, which is similar to that in Toronto, I’d accept.
We were left standing at the entrance for several minutes while staff clearly saw us but ignored us, despite the restaurant having very few customers. There was no greeting or basic courtesy at any point.
The person who appeared to be the manager placed food on the table and handled payment without saying a single word throughout the entire evening. This lack of communication felt uncomfortable and unprofessional. If there is a language or communication barrier, basic customer service standards should still be maintained.
The food was very average and not worth the price—worse than supermarket quality. To make matters worse, a server loudly complained about customers while speaking to other staff, completely disregarding nearby diners. Extremely rude and unprofessional behavior.
We came for the first time on a Wednesday evening at 7pm. Even though the restaurant wasn’t busy, we never felt rushed. The food arrived quickly.
There are 3 AYCE menus available:
Bravo Menu (no sashimi): $29.95 adults & $15.95 kids ages 4-9
4 pieces salmon or tuna sashimi included: $35.95 adults & $24.95 kids ages 4-9
Unlimited sashimi included: $47.95 adults & $27.95 kids ages 4-9
Keep an eye out for menu changes at the bottom. They add extra options and they’re not on the order form.
My favourite dishes included the green salad, wakame salad, salmon nigiri sushi, special scallop cone, spicy tuna cone, smelt karrage and BBQ Mackerel.
We tried the $35.95 option and left satisfied. The food was fresh, and the portions were reasonable.
Some dishes were too salty (salmon teriyaki, smelt karrage, seafood korroge). The oyster motoyaki was very disappointing. I’d avoid it.
Good experience overall. Worth trying if you’re craving all you can eat sushi. Easy to find, lots of free parking available.
