Alethea’s Chocolates – Williamsville, NY
If there’s a chocolate heaven, Alethea’s is it! My brother and sister insisted we find sponge candy, and this place delivered big time.
We were greeted by Sharon, who offered a sample of vanilla fudge (amazing!) before pointing us to the star of the show — sponge candy. It’s like caramel, honey, and toffee had a crispy, melt-in-your-mouth baby. I’m team dark chocolate, but milk chocolate fans won’t be disappointed.
The shop feels like Chocolate Wonderland meets a 1950s ice cream parlor — full of charm, color, and sweet nostalgia. I didn’t try the ice cream this visit (saving that for next time), but it looked incredible.
Friendly service, classic decor, and world-class chocolate — this is a must-visit in Williamsville.
Alethea’s made me believe in love at first bite. ❤️

The ice cream presentation is pretty cool.
The flavor was not as flavorful as it should have been. A little pricey for the portion size as well. It is decorated pretty neat for fall time

This is one of my favorite places for sponge candy and ice cream. The staff is always very friendly and will always go out of their way to assist customers. The ice cream is really great, and it’s somewhere I bring my family when they come into town to visit.

It felt a bit like stepping back in time. The sundays were simple but nice and somewhat elegant much like the atmosphere. Prices seemed on par to others. I primarily am writing this review to give credit to the person working at the dessert Cafe (sunday) who was refreshing very friendly and polite, it is sadly not something as common these days and deserves recognition.

I purchased several items to give as gifts and additional items to share with my family. Free fudge samples were offered in the store. Very helpful and friendly staff. The fudge sample was delicious and the chocolate covered potato chips were yummy.

Not a good idea for mail order. I just got my order this morning. It was just a jumbled bunch of miscolored chocolates thrown in a box. When I bit into one it just crumbled into pieces and dust.

As soon as you walk in, you’re hit with the smell of fresh chocolate. The chocolate shop was amazing! Definitely ask if they’re doing any free samples while you’re in there. There were so many delicious treats to choose from, I could have spent hours looking around, taking it all in.
On the other side of the house is the ice cream shop. Again, delicious and a wide range of flavors/treats to pick from! Pro tip: the milkshakes are massive when you’re dining in!
If you have a sweet tooth, you gotta stop in!!

There’s a review here that says “I unfortunately didn’t have the pleasure of actually entering this establishment. I was supposed to be meeting my boyfriend here for a date but I wasn’t even able to get out of my car without an employee harassing me. She was sitting in her car, unrolled her window while I attempted to park, and before I even got out of my car she was questioning why I was parking there. I didn’t bother to answer her question, I asked if she worked there and why she was asking me and she immediately started saying how it was private property and me parking there was a liability because she thought I was going to the bar across the street. I got in my car, left, and we went somewhere else for desert. I’m not sure how good for business it is when you have employees harassing potential customers in your parking lot.”
I just wanted to echo this, as basically the same thing happened to me. Immediate interrogation about parking there. I get the worry about it, but the immediate rage and interrogation was extremely rude, when it could’ve been handled much nicer. Never going back here, and just makes me want to park here and go across the street to Bar Bill from now on. Job well done all around.

Aletheas chocolates are smooth and creamy. The orange chocolate is superb. I have been a Platter’s Chocolates customer for 40 years, but I like this chocolate better!
