Best breakfast! What a find. Mad respect on the dedication it takes to make everything from scratch. All of the sausages, pork belly, ketchup, jelly…all of it! Drove from Pittsburgh, and we’ll do it again. Worth it. Drive as far as you need to get here!

This breakfast spot was not far from our hotel. The food sounded so good I opted to skip the free hotel breakfast. And man- it delivered!! The walk- in is odd as there’s no sign telling you to wait and the register was so busy that they couldn’t acknowledge us walking in. Luckily the weather was decent to wait out side. If it was winter- yikes.
But the food- not just the same old diner breakfast. Massive bread pudding French toast and the BURRITO- HELLO!!! Definitely a must have but keep your party small.

BE CAREFUL GOING HERE!!
This restaurant will have you convinced that whoever is making your food is deeply and passionately in love with you. Even Though they have never met you. Or that every item in your bowl is prepared by different people and then all at one time they plated together.
The food is made with such meticulous detail. Every bite being perfectly seasoned And the crunch from the potato inside of the burrito is fascinating. Their timing is perfect, so as though nothing becomes soggy and mushy. With each bite, you can distinguish the textures from every ingredient. Bite after bite is the most amazing ratio of pork egg and potato.
So whether or not the cook loves you ; YOU WILL FALL IN LOVE WITH THE FOOD!
Even a Togo order will not disappoint. There has to be some magic . Complements to the Chef , truly.

Friendly staff. Quick service. Loved the biscuits and gravy, tried my son’s French toast which was delicious, and my daughter’s BLT was perfect. I absolutely love the potatoes, it had just the right crunch.

My husband and I had such a lovely breakfast here. From the moment we walked in, we were immediately welcomed and seated, which made the place feel very homey and inviting. Our waiter was fast, attentive, and efficient. We were seated near the kitchen and it was actually such a joy—hearing the staff singing along to Bob Dylan while they worked created such a positive, happy atmosphere. It truly felt like a great workplace with everyone enjoying what they do. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the music made the experience even better. We will definitely be back!

Scratch in the Independence area is a brunch gem! I might have overextended myself by ordering two meals, but it was worth it—the food was amazing! The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, perfect for a relaxing brunch. The menu offers a delicious variety of options, each crafted with fresh, local ingredients. I especially enjoyed [insert favorite dish or highlight]. The staff was friendly and attentive, ensuring a pleasant dining experience despite my hearty appetite. The only thing I would add is that it’s really tight inside and seating isn’t comfortable. It’s meant to eat and leave. Whether you’re dining solo or with friends, Scratch in Independence delivers exceptional flavors and quality. Highly recommend for a delightful brunch experience!

Easily the best breakfast food I’ve ever had. The home fries are to die for. The service was amazing and personable. It was our first time here and we were treated just as great as the regulars who come here all the time. We didn’t bring our kids this time, but the kids that were here seemed so happy. And they had coloring books for them. The restaurant is small but that just makes it have a cozier feeling. 10/10 would recommend and can’t wait to come back.

This place should have nothing under 5 stars. I came here yesterday for the first time but have been wanting to come here for the past year. It’s very quaint/small. But has a real homey vibe to it. I can’t remember my server’s name for the life of me but she was phenomenal. Hands down some of the best service I have ever had. She explained the menu to us and some key points about some of the selections. Everything sounds so good. They have a sweet side to the menu as well as a savory side to the menu. We acted for savory that day. I had got the compassion burrito, My friend got the biscuits and gravy. My burrito made my eyes roll into the back of my head and experience A food gasm. Yes it really was that good. And the size of this burrito has to be the size of at least 2 burritos from Chipotle. It was $16 and 1 dollar is donated to a child charity. I will be back to try the entire menu. Great prices, great food and great staff!!!
