To earn a 5 star review means all expectations were exceeded, and Wilder’s did that!
From the moment I walked through the door I was impressed.
Devon provided us exceptional service. Answering all questions and providing explanations and suggestions provided the groundwork for an amazing meal.
Appetizers (beef tartare and crab cakes) were perfect, flavorful, and seasoned wonderfully.
Our main course (filet and bone-in ribeye steaks) arrived with hash browns and numerous sauces. Steaks were some of the best, and Wilder’s has redefined hash browns.
We also thoroughly enjoyed cheesecake, cappuccino, and French press coffee.
All in all, this was an evening to remember!

Wilder’s was very good and met expectations. The beef and tuna tartare were both excellent. Our group of 4 also shared the Dover Sole, Cajun Chicken and Wagyu NY Strip. The strip was perfectly cooked, the cajun chicken was our least favorite of the three but still very good and the dover sole was awesome. Their house made caesar dressing was great.
Service was absolutely top notch.

We visited Wilder’s for the first time and had a mixed experience. We arrived on time for our reservation but had to wait almost 22 minutes to be seated, which was a bit frustrating. The ambiance of the restaurant was nice and definitely had a classic steakhouse vibe, but it was much louder than expected—steakhouses usually have a more moderate noise level, but that’s something beyond control.
As for the food, the highlight was definitely the filet mignon, which was cooked to absolute perfection. However, most of the side dishes were underwhelming. The carrot truffles tasted like plain boiled carrots, and the potato purée lacked flavor. The mushrooms were okay but nothing special, and the pasta dish was unfortunately bland. On the bright side, the zucchini fries were excellent, and the Caesar salad was refreshing and delicious.
Service was another area that needed improvement. The staff wasn’t very helpful and seemed to have a bit of a cold attitude, which made the overall experience less enjoyable.
That being said, we’re definitely open to giving Wilder’s another try in a few months, hoping to see improvements in both service and food quality. It has the potential to be a great spot with just a few tweaks!

We had the best experience here last night. Fallon was our server and she was so kind and attentive, Wilder’s is lucky to have her as a waitress. Service was 10/10.
The food and drinks were average for Birmingham. I would definitely come back if they changed up the menu or added more to it, it felt a bit limited. I got the salmon. It was good, but I wish it came with something other than a few leaves of greens. My boyfriend got the chicken, and it was just okay. I really wanted to love this place, and we will definitely check it out again in the future. I still recommend giving it a try. It’s in a great location and it definitely has so much potential.
I will add, the calamari was amazing. I think we would come back just for that.

We absolutely loved our visit to Wilders! The restaurant is stunning—truly beautiful and cozy, with many thoughtful touches evident throughout. The staff is wonderful and attentive; we felt well taken care of from start to finish. While the food was great (kudos to the chef!), the martinis are the true shining star of the experience. They are easily the best I’ve ever had. We will definitely be back!

Great place for a date night. The moment I walked through that beautiful door i felt it was gonna be great. Once i walked in I went to the bathroom to wash my hands and it was so clean you can eat off the floor. Thats when you know you are gonna have a great dinner. The food is unbelievable. My wife got the filet and i got a chicken dish with coleslaw on top. All i can say is Wow. It was to die for. Steak was so good. My wife loved it. And that chicken dish was insane. I got mushrooms on the side. Listen to me get mushrooms and dump it all on top of the chicken and coleslaw and thank me later. That should be automatically on the chicken dish. James was great at serving us. Great guy and very nice and didnt even use a paper and pen and kevin was very nice and respectful when I had something come up. I called him and he changed my reservation with no headache. I will be back with the kids next week. This family knows all about dining. They have been in the business for a very long time and the owners dad (God rest his soul) was a good friend of my fathers for over 50 years. Never did I visit any of their establishments and not love it. Birmingham is lucky to have a hard working family like this to have more then one business in the city. We drive 40 min to come and eat. Unbelievable staff. Honest to God great work guys you have perfected your craft. God bless you all.

My husband and I visited Wilders for the first time and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. We had a 6:30 PM reservation and arrived on time. Around 8:05 PM—after spending over $300 and leaving a generous tip—we were approached by the hostess and told that our “time was up” and we needed to leave.
This was especially surprising given that Wilders is a steakhouse, where dining is typically slower-paced and relaxed. The couples seated on both sides of us had arrived well before we did, had already finished their meals, and were still sitting and talking—yet none of them were asked to get up. We were the only table approached, which felt inconsistent and unfair.
We’ve been Birmingham residents for 10 years and have never experienced anything like this at any restaurant in the area. It was an uncomfortable and embarrassing way to end what was supposed to be a nice night out.
We had even been considering returning with friends for a future dinner, but after this experience, we absolutely would not. In fact, we would never return based on how we were treated.
We were genuinely excited to try Wilders, but this interaction left a very negative impression and makes it impossible for us to recommend the restaurant to others.

Everything we ordered was good. The dessert was so so. I would recommend them to update and upgrade their dessert options. It is very limited.

From start to finish, our experience was nothing short of exceptional. Every detail – from the lighting to the music – set the stage for an unforgettable meal. Service was flawless, food was simply outstanding. If you’re looking for a place that delivers true fine dining without pretense, this is it. Absolutely deserving of every star and I cant wait to go back!
