I’ll tell you what, Underground Public House has some of the best, high-quality food I’ve had in a long time.

I’m the newest big fan of Scotch eggs. Oktoberfest house sausage, smoked Gouda, and more wrapped in Oktoberfest pretzel crust. 10/10, so good.

I got THEE P.B.R. (Pork Belly Reuben). The meat was amazing quality, loaded with flavor, so tender.

Rachel really enjoyed the filet mignon, and the Black + Blue Daily cocktail was a nice intro. The green-looking beer is the Nerdy Dancing, tastes like a Nerds rope!

Definitely highly recommend checking Underground next time you’re in Carbondale!

First: service 10 stars. Our waiter was awesome, thanks guys! Food: scrumptious. Absolutely, you must stop here. Drinks and food = we are outside and it was a gorgeous set up. We made rez in advance, if suggest.

We cannot say enough about how awesome this place is. It is our diamond in the rough. Remember to make a reservation!!!!
The beer selection is out of this world. The food is amazing and impeccable. And the staff has always been wonderful. FYI
There is a tip jar for kitchen staff- don’t forgot to share your appreciation with them too.

Went for my bday dinner with my husband. I don’t eat pork or beef. They had a pork belly ruben on the menu, I asked for it without the meat and was told NO by the pompas chef. No were on the menu did it say no substitutions. He told the waitress to tell us it just wouldn’t be right and we would want money off…we never asked for money off, only for a item to be removed. The sandwich was made with scratch brewery rye bread(I love scratch bread!), a kimchee kraut, a local cheese, and house made dressing which all sounded delicious and I was looking forward to it all week after looking at the menu after making our reservation. The chef not thinking it would be good isn’t what I asked, I love vegetarian rubens ,I literally eat them all the time. The waitress pointed out a few other items on the menu, but I am not a child and a knew what I wanted to order with my money. We finished our drinks and app we had already ordered, while sitting there we made a reservation to another restaurant and left and went there for dinner. They literally let us leave without dinner rather then take the pork off a sandwich.
The super sad thing is we had just discovered this place and thought it would be a new favorite. But this place is not cheap, if I ask to remove a item…the good customer service answer would have been yes mam. And if he thought it wouldn’t be up to his standards, then be a real chef and make me a veggie ruben. But no, instead lose good customers. I have never been treated like this and we eat out a lot, at many very nice places.

Relaxed but classy vibe. You can spend big bucks if you’re doing cocktails, big plates and desserts. Which is worth it if that’s the experience you’re looking for. But you can definitely get an amazing meal for a reasonable price. And it will likely feed you for two meal – because the portions are sizable. The cocktails are great and the beer selection will keep you busy. I imagine they have a good wine selection too but I’ve never messed with it.

Underground Public House makes you feel like you’ve stumbled into a cool city spot without leaving town. Dark, moody, perfect for date night, and somehow both effortlessly chic and totally welcoming. The food is huge, perfectly cooked, and so good you’ll forget what “regular portion” even means. Drinks are on point, the staff actually knows what they’re doing, and honestly, you’ll leave wondering why every night out isn’t like this.

Randomly found this gastropub during our adventures on the town. I would highly-recommend setting up reservations in advance to make sure you are seated at a table but they were nice enough to let us sit at the bar. Everything was 5 star. Food, drinks and service. My wife and I will be coming back soon but we will let them know in advance. Give it try!

Everything was great except for I think the greens was undercooked.
And for some reason they put blue cheese on my mashed potatoes besides that the steak was fantastic but bring your own sharp knife. I had to ask the waitress for 2 different knives both of them basically were duller than butter knives .
I had to use my pocket knife in order to cut the delicious perfectly cooked steak.
