The highlight of the evening was definitely the fish from the non-veg starter platter — juicy, well-marinated, and bursting with flavor. Unfortunately, the other two items on the platter, the lamb and chicken, didn’t hold up as well. They tasted a bit stale and had a slightly off-putting smell, which made them hard to enjoy.
The Nalli Rogan Josh, on the other hand, was rich, aromatic, and full of bold spices. The meat was tender and paired nicely with the layered depth of the gravy and was one of the better dishes of the night. The Lazeez Murgh Tikka Masala, however, fell short of expectations. It was decent but not particularly memorable, especially for a restaurant carrying the Sanjeev Kapoor name; I expected a stronger “wow” factor and more depth of flavor.
The Awadhi Dum Murgh Biryani was flavorful but didn’t particularly stand out and it felt more like a good, everyday biryani rather than something special. The Shahi Tukra for dessert was alright, not bad, but not great either; it lacked the richness and indulgence that makes this dessert shine.
Service was a bit on the slower side, though the staff were polite. Overall, the experience was okay but not exceptional. Considering the reputation behind the restaurant, I expected more finesse and distinctiveness in the flavors. There are definitely better options elsewhere for similar dishes, especially for the relatively high price point. Quantity of the dishes were also very low.
The lamb chops had good potential but could have been better in execution. However, the drinks definitely made up for it—both the Martini and the Piña Colada were fantastic and crafted with great balance.
Prices are a bit on the higher side, but overall the quality, atmosphere, and service make it worth a visit. A solid 4-star dining experience.
Upon entering, I loved that there was a full bar, space was gracious and well appointed, modern, very well maintained.
Ordered the papaya and peanut salad, samosas, grilled paneer, coconut fish, a chicken biriyani, mango lassi, and Falludah. Everything was super delicious and I’m so happy!
On the way out, they offer caraway seeds to crunch on as a palette cleanser. Excellent all around!!
The entire process, from ordering to pickup, was seamless. I worked with Ajit, the new manager at Yellow Chilli, and he was incredibly helpful. He guided me through the menu selection and made sure everything was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared.
Highly, highly recommend Yellow Chilli if you’re catering Indian food. I won’t be going anywhere else!
Server was good. He understood and then served it but still I won’t rate it highly. The other person was trying to help me understand that it’s not Indian food. Lol so what do you expect from an Indian restaurant.
I have seen better hospitality and food in other near by restaurants.
My recommendation may be go to Tajmahal in San Ramon. They have better food and ambience.
The service was also excellent. The staff were very kind, gentle, and respectful, and they made us feel welcome. Our order came out fast, which made the experience even better.
Overall, everything was great, and I definitely plan to come back again. In my opinion, this is one of the best restaurants in this area.
did not like shyam savera which is one of the specialty there and the service was a bit slow
But overall a good ambience with quality food. would definitely go back there.
While the ambiance and service were on point, I feel there’s some room for improvement with the menu. Adding more options or variety in each section could elevate the dining experience even further. A few more choices in appetizers, main courses, and desserts would bring added excitement to the meal.
Yellow Chill is a wonderful spot with fantastic service, and with a bit more focus on menu expansion, it could become a top choice for dining out.
