The Barbacoa taco was really delicious. The flour tortillas have an authentic handmade taste to them. The tamales are worth every penny ! They are so good. I recommend stopping in and seeing all the cool things they offer.

As a small-town girl who grew up in the kitchen making tamales from scratch, I don’t take tamales lightly. Alamo Tamales is a true Houston staple and my go-to spot every holiday season when I want authentic, traditional Mexican tamales that taste like home. The tamales are generously portioned, filling, and packed with rich, comforting flavor—all at a very reasonable price. You leave satisfied, not still hungry. The staff is always friendly, welcoming, and accommodating, which makes the experience even better. And don’t skip dessert—pairing tamales with buñuelos dusted in cinnamon and sugar is a classic Mexican tradition, and Alamo does it right. This place feels like home, and I already look forward

3.3 stars. Stopped in to pick up some tamales. Prices were fair. Lots to choose from though. We ended up getting a half dozen sweet corn tamales which were okay. We also picked up a half dozen chicken tamales which were also standard. Friendly employees and well organized operation. Just not quite sure what the fuss and hype are about.

Legif, 12/10. Quesabirras in point, great consume. Legit tamales. All salsas we tried were great. Delicious horchata, wish I had gotten the larger size. If you want a real authentic experience. This is the place.

Alamo Tamales is a beloved place for Lunch in the Northside area of Houston. I believe is a bit overpriced and competition around offer same quality food. Taste is great. Panaderia is part of the offerings. Place is very clean and well-kept. Ample parking, plenty of seating.

I came here 3rd time 2 days ago for menudo and it was more disappointing. They fill up the cup with more stock and less beef tripes and chickpeas. They raise the price but food portion is less. The owner is getting stingy with food and greedy with the money!! And the flavor of the menudo is going down also. Not like they used to be.

Coworkers always want to eat here for lunch. Food served quick due to it being pre-made and under heat lamps. Can get pretty busy with long line. Ladies behind counter seems to rush me when I need time to read the extensive menu or see what’s on the line. Dislike the fact of only bottled drinks served instead of refillable fountain drinks. Ordered beef fajita tacos which were pretty good.

I was really impressed with how quickly the line moved and how delicious the food was! I enjoyed a large menudo with all the fixings, a chicharron en salsa verde taco, and a carnitas in salsa verde taco. There are so many options, and I can’t wait to try them all in one day. I’ll definitely be back to explore more menu items and combinations.

The quality of the food is satisfactory; however, the pricing appears excessive. I ordered a menudo, Chico, and found the portion considerably smaller than expected. The grande size did not align with the larger portions I am accustomed to. In conclusion, it seems that the establishment prioritizes profit over value. Some alternative venues provide comparable or superior cuisine at much more reasonable prices.
