I’m surprised that this restaurant in little town can produce such a wonderful burger(Whistle burger), well the burger is so huge since it has two burger meat in there.
Franch Toast was okay and above average.
I also surprised that they execute “serve yourself” policy.
Outdoor is pretty during Summer hour and sunny. Many locals come and sit and chat.
Indoor is a very local bar.
I’ll say overall it was a wonderful experience dine in here.

I stopped by for breakfast at
this popular local bar and had
an interesting experience.
The bar had a few customers
as I sat down and reviewed
the menu.
I ordered two eggs, a sausage patty, two pancakes, and
orange juice.
The breakfast menu has
omelets, breakfast burritos,
French toast, and much more.
The lunch menu has burgers,
sandwiches, steak, salads, and
soup.
I received my order in about
ten minutes with no problems.
The pancakes were a little
overcooked, but were light
and fluffy.
The sausage had a nice taste
to it, and the eggs were not
overcooked.
You will find a classic bar vibe
with low lighting, lottery
machines, and a small ceiling
with a cozy fireplace.
Located in Welches on Hwy 26
on the left side if you are
driving toward Portland.

What’s not to love? Local place that has been around since the 1930s. It’s a bar that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Best sausage gravy my husband has ever had, and if you saw him you could tell he’s tried a lot of gravies in his day! I had to try the Whistle Burger for lunch and never had dinner…..you can probably see my video somewhere online trying fit that monster in my mouth. Kay is a Gem, but I recommend you keeping her in your good side. The chef has been there for 29 years! If feeling frisky, try the Morracan Coffee for breakfast and enjoy the show, but you’re only allowed 2…if you can make it through the first one. There are evening events some nights of the week, and a back patio for your pooches, and a gaming area. This has just the right vibe for us small town folks from Florida. Thank you so much for a great time at the Whistle Stop!

The food here is great; however, the service has been consistently disappointing. I’ve lived on the mountain for a little over a year, and about 8 out of 10 times when I try to place a to-go order by phone, the phone lines are turned off.
The last time this happened, my husband was able to call and place a to-go order, so I called shortly after to place mine separately. When I tried to call, the phone lines had already been turned off. Because of that, I decided to come into the restaurant instead. I asked if they had turned the phone lines off and was told yes, because they were not taking to-go orders. I then asked if I could place a to-go order in person since I was already there, and was told no.
This is especially frustrating because I’m not someone who enjoys a bar atmosphere and prefer to take my food home. Because of this inconsistency, my husband and I have stopped eating here altogether. The experience is too hit-or-miss, and it no longer feels worth the time or effort.
I would really like to see more clarity or consistency around their to-go policy. Either resolve the issue with turning the phone lines off, or stop offering to-go orders entirely if they are only available sometimes and at staff discretion.

What a pleasant surprise! Such delicious food! The music was great there too. Chill vibes- nice staff and other customers. Totally threw me off from my other dive bar experiences. I still dream fondly about the chicken cordon bleu sandwich.

If I could give this place a 6 out of five I would!
My husband and I were here multiple times 2 years ago, and it was amazing then. We knew we were going to drive past it again today and we really hoped it would still be as good. Very happy to report every single piece of food was absolutely perfect and delicious!! We got the Whistle stop burger and the chicken burger, as well as a broccoli cheddar soup and fries.
This place holds great memories for us and we added to that today. Thanks Whistle Stop! ❤️

Haven’t been there for a while. The precious owner sucked and didn’t update menu prices and I was charged probably $15. More than menu prices. Owner has changed and I’m confident that has been resolved.

Awesome breakfast and big portions. Great selection of spiked coffee drinks too. I had a vege omelette that was nicely loaded with veg & cheese. Very filling and tasted good. Loved the hash browns. A bit eccentric inside – older building, charming with old wood. Has a section with slot machines which I found odd. But, this is in the Mt Hood area so the vibe goes. Our server (forgot name) was super sweet.
