We stopped here for our last night in Montreal for dinner. The staff were quick, attentive and very polite. The food was outstanding. We split a Cesar salad for starter and no word of a lie, it was just lettuce, croutons and dressing but one of the best Cesar salads I’ve ever had. The extensive pizza menu features tons of beautiful, freshly made items all prepared in a wood fired oven. I had the salamino (#54) and hubby had the arugula(#71). Both were fantastic. We took an order of cannolis to go, and they were out of this world. The cream was thick and delicious with just a hint of lemon. The restaurant was packed with a lively, friendly vibe. Plus it was super close to our hotel so it was a great choice. I would recommend it to anyone. Total for dinner plus hubby’s two beers and tip was $122.23

By far, the best pizza I’ve had in Montreal. I went with a group of 7 friends. All our pizzas arrived in a reasonable time. I ordered a simple peperonata pizza. The crust was perfect in crustiness and the tomato sauce was rich and well balanced. Our waiters were very welcoming, friendly and professional. I highly recommend Pizza II Focolaio. They have over 70 options to choose from in terms of toppings combinations, so I’ll definitely be coming back to try another!

A must stop if you are in Montreal. We went on a Saturday evening and while here was a little bit of a line up and wait, it was well worth it. The pizzas were tasty, full of flavour and the chilli oil enhanced the taste. The deserts topped it off. Will definitely comeback for more.

Pizza Il Focolaio is more than a restaurant — it’s a journey.

We ordered a table full of treasures: the Prosciutto, the timeless Margherita, the bold Toro with Kalamata and pancetta, and a Napolitaine made perfectly lactose-friendly. To finish, not one but two desserts arrived — a sweet surprise — with tiramisu that felt like a gift from Italy itself.

Each bite carried me back to memories of hiking through Italy, where simple ingredients and wood-fired flavors turned every village meal into a story.

The warmth of the food, the care in the service, and the atmosphere here made the evening unforgettable. If you’re in Montréal and want pizza that truly speaks of Italy — this is the place.

Grazie, Il Focolaio. ✨

I was definitely a bit overwhelmed by the amount of choices they had for pizza but it’s a good thing because everyone will find someone they like which makes it great for larger groups. Around 20$ a pizza, you get a decent sized pizza which is quite filling as well. The food itself was amazing. The pizza was saucy and flavorful which made it so good. I also really enjoyed the slightly smokey flavors added by the wood fired oven. The service however was not the most pleasant. We did not feel welcomed at all and the waiter for the whole night had a sulking face. When refilling my water, they spilled a lot of water all over my arm and left without saying anything. Then for the receipt, they just threw it on the table along with the machine and then left as well. I was so confused by their behavior. The place itself is pretty spacious at first glance but the tables are really small and really packed together which makes it a bit cramped inside. There is also a waiting line of around 20-30 minutes so please be aware of that.

Great place in every possible way. The server ( at the counter on the right side of the picture) was a cheerful, professional and welcoming gentleman. Great smile on his face and helped us through picking pizza choices.
