In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. Their mission was simple: create a fun and friendly atmosphere where the local community could enjoy huge portions of home-style cooking at a reasonable price. Today, we continue their mission at every Black Bear Diner across the country, as we passionately provide guests an outstanding experience. Our menu offers comfort food classics, and our entire menu is offered all day long. Whether you are craving pancakes at 8 pm or pot roast at 8 am – we’ve got something for everyone. It was Valentine’s Day. They are inside a rest stop, so there were a lot of cute and cultural gifts to buy someone on their special day, even several by local artists, while waiting for a table. We used one of two massage chairs during our wait. The bathrooms were good. The restaurant itself is absolutely adorable, with bear decorations everywhere. Each plate came with a lot of food, and the food was really good. However, they forgot my sausages, but that’s OK. They were so busy that day. The place was packed. I highly recommend going!

You guys have to check out this place out! If you have not eaten here before you definitely need to try this place. Food was amazing everything tasted fresh and home made. Waiter was very clean and nice above all very attentive to whatever we wanted not like at many other restaurants that once you get your food they forget about you. Place was very clean and organized. You pay right before you leave so there might be a few minutes to browse their Black Bear Merchandise. I got their signature sauce a bear claw back scratcher and a papa bear T- shirt. Don’t miss out!

Honestly the best experience I have had in a restaurant in a very long time. Pamela (our waitress) was super sweet and on point with the service. Food was delicious and more than enough.

I came to eat somewhere around noon. Amazing ambiance and great service from Derek. He made sure my needs were met without being overbearing . Refilled my coffee. Food came out hot and was super delicious. Definitely recommend the chili on cold days. Yummm. The GM Marco was super nice and seemed to be very involved with the flow of the restaurant. Over all great experience, will be back 🙂

It was a Saturday and it was packed! I’ve NEVER seen biscuits that big for the Biscuit and Gravy. Your waitress was clearly running, and never missed a beast, and was always smiling, Eben with 5 tables, and is with 5 adults, and 2 kids. It was a good atmosphere, it was not overstimulating for our kids, and we all had great conversation. Everyone’s meal looked so good, and played were all so full!!!
