We visited as a party of 9 and had a genuinely baffling experience.

Because reservations aren’t offered, we were told the wait would be two hours. Not ideal, but we accepted it. What quickly became clear, however, was that the wait had nothing to do with crowding. The restaurant was largely empty the entire time (see photo), with open tables and an empty bar. The delay was due to the fact that a hibachi restaurant was operating with only one hibachi chef on a Thursday night.

Given the long wait, we asked if we could sit at the bar. Several of us ordered drinks. Lacey, the bartender, was kind, professional, and the only bright spot in this experience. She handled the situation with grace and treated us with respect.

Unfortunately, management did not.

After ordering, we were told we could not remain at the bar and were asked to stand outside with our drinks — essentially in the parking lot — “in case someone comes in and wants to sit at the bar to order food.”

Let that sink in. Paying customers were asked to leave their seats and stand outside holding drinks they had just purchased, on the off chance a hypothetical guest might arrive — while the restaurant remained visibly empty.

This wasn’t about space, safety, or crowding. It was a rigid, dismissive application of policy layered on top of an operational staffing decision, and it showed a lack of judgment and hospitality — especially toward a large group that was actively trying to be patient and spend money.

To be clear: I am not looking for a templated “we’re sorry” response. The takeaway here is simple — do better. Staff appropriately, empower your team to use common sense, and don’t put employees like Lacey in the position of having to apologize for decisions that aren’t theirs.

Food is great…
Worth the money
Service not the greatest..
Deffinitely not up to par w the pricing, atmosphere, in my opinion, rates poorly as well.
Nothing at all esthetically pleasing about the place.
AGAIN, GREAT EATTING!

We did not have to wait for a table. The server was attentive and friendly. We didn’t have to wait long for the chef to come out either. The chef did not do any of the tricks some people may expect but the food was excellent, with the exception of the rice being undercooked. Overall, I would recommend Shogun’s and look forward to going back.

It had been a decade since I last visited Shogun in Paris. I walked in with some nostalgic expectations, and was truly delighted to find that the place still delivers.

I entered, and the atmosphere felt just great, warm lighting, the signature hibachi-grills sizzling, and chefs working their tableside magic in true teppanyaki fashion. The décor and layout looked fresh and well-maintained, no major changes necessary, but clearly taken care of.

The food? Stellar. The hibachi cooking was entertaining and delicious; the sushi bar also offered a vibrant selection with rolls and nigiri that hit the mark. The balance of show-dining with genuine flavour made for a memorable experience.

Service stayed strong, the staff were friendly, enthusiastic, and worked to make the visit enjoyable, just like I remembered. If anything, the small size of the place adds to its charm (though at busy times you might want to go early or call ahead).

Every time we go here it is good. My only complaint is sometimes they have to stop taking to go orders because they get so busy. Not their fault tho. I’ve tried most of the sushi over the years and mt Fuji is my very favorite. Calimari is what we usually order but we have had every habachi on the menu and not one disappoints! We love going any chance we get. I don’t mind sitting with strangers and occasionally share or swap sushi with them to try too. As a matter of fact we may be in tonight now lol!

I recently took my best friends here for their first hibachi experience! They had a blast! The bartender was super helpful and answered all of our questions and suggested great drinks! The waitress was so nice! The food is amazing the steak to die for! I can go on and on. We had an amazing experience! Will definitely come back again!

Shogun in Paris is great both in-house dining experience as well as call in and pick up orders. Every time we have experienced great customer service with a smile, fresh, hot, quality food selections, clean and inviting environment, lots of great menu choices available during normal hours of operation. The spicy California roll and the cowboy roll are two of the best sushi selections and are must-haves. One of the best full meal menu items they have is the steak / shrimp / rice always will feel one person up and have enough leftovers to eat on for a couple of snacks. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ And . This is always a must visit for out of towers looking for something great. It should always be a once a month for locals as well. It’s usually a little crowded would suggest getting there a little earlier than normal for an in dining experience. Calling ahead for to-go orders plan on at least 45 minutes from the time you called till you pull up and receive your awesomest to go.

We enjoyed the food but we had to wait 40 minutes to be seated at a table. The waitstaff was very nice and friendly. Other than the wait, it was a very enjoyable dinner.

First time ever eating at any Shogun/Hibachi style restaurant but from what I was told it was great food and a great show. While the food was great. There was absolutely no show… at any table little flame at the beginning and the end. The employees looked like they didn’t want to be there and just over all not the best experience.
