Because reservations aren’t offered, we were told the wait would be two hours. Not ideal, but we accepted it. What quickly became clear, however, was that the wait had nothing to do with crowding. The restaurant was largely empty the entire time (see photo), with open tables and an empty bar. The delay was due to the fact that a hibachi restaurant was operating with only one hibachi chef on a Thursday night.
Given the long wait, we asked if we could sit at the bar. Several of us ordered drinks. Lacey, the bartender, was kind, professional, and the only bright spot in this experience. She handled the situation with grace and treated us with respect.
Unfortunately, management did not.
After ordering, we were told we could not remain at the bar and were asked to stand outside with our drinks — essentially in the parking lot — “in case someone comes in and wants to sit at the bar to order food.”
Let that sink in. Paying customers were asked to leave their seats and stand outside holding drinks they had just purchased, on the off chance a hypothetical guest might arrive — while the restaurant remained visibly empty.
This wasn’t about space, safety, or crowding. It was a rigid, dismissive application of policy layered on top of an operational staffing decision, and it showed a lack of judgment and hospitality — especially toward a large group that was actively trying to be patient and spend money.
To be clear: I am not looking for a templated “we’re sorry” response. The takeaway here is simple — do better. Staff appropriately, empower your team to use common sense, and don’t put employees like Lacey in the position of having to apologize for decisions that aren’t theirs.
Worth the money
Service not the greatest..
Deffinitely not up to par w the pricing, atmosphere, in my opinion, rates poorly as well.
Nothing at all esthetically pleasing about the place.
AGAIN, GREAT EATTING!
Everything else went great! Our server was top tier! Thank you Hannah!
I entered, and the atmosphere felt just great, warm lighting, the signature hibachi-grills sizzling, and chefs working their tableside magic in true teppanyaki fashion. The décor and layout looked fresh and well-maintained, no major changes necessary, but clearly taken care of.
The food? Stellar. The hibachi cooking was entertaining and delicious; the sushi bar also offered a vibrant selection with rolls and nigiri that hit the mark. The balance of show-dining with genuine flavour made for a memorable experience.
Service stayed strong, the staff were friendly, enthusiastic, and worked to make the visit enjoyable, just like I remembered. If anything, the small size of the place adds to its charm (though at busy times you might want to go early or call ahead).
