The rice was perfectly cooked, the meat was tender and well-seasoned, and the portions were generous. Everything tasted homemade and thoughtfully prepared.

Been here 5 times since opening. Food is tasty, service from Omama (front desk staff) is awesome, ethnic ambiance is beautiful. Yes, price maybe a little on the higher side, however for the taste I am willing to pay that (the price margin may turn off quite a few customers as Lombard is becoming a hub for more and more newer middle eastern cuisine choices).
So, why a 3 star rating – Lack of consistency in portions!!! I always get mine to go, and have noticed the portions are frequently inconsistent. Lately, especially since they are busy (Ramadan), the food seems to be sloppily thrown in the container, the proportions of meat vary, rice content is nearly not full in the container like it used to be in the beginning, the crispy onion pieces in/on the rice is scant (which significantly adds to the flavor of the dish), and the cucumber yogurt appetizer portions are about 1/2 filled in the container.
I understand its Ramadan, so they must be trying to stretch the food for the large number of Iftar customers. But, from a business perspective, its not a good practice and customers notice these things. Soon it will take its toll on customers patronising this business.
For me, I will go a few more times just to give them a chance to fix the problem (plus, I also live very closeby), but if the problem continues, I will down grade my rating further, and cease patronising this establishment. Hope my review helps others. Thanks.

Unexpected and out of the corner of my eye, the Bright lights of Sufra greeted me I sat in the passenger side of my friend’s car. Turning around and eating here was the best thing i did this ramadan. food that tastes like my childhood. Good portions and a lovely environment. Best yemeni food in chicago land
