Fish With You
156 Castro St
Mountain View, CA 94041

I went on a rainy Presidents Day and parking was not a problem in the city structure behind the restaurant. The place has a huge orange fish on the Castro Street sidewalk.

The interior is long and narrow with a modernistic table, chair and bench setup. Since there were only two other parties I was seated promptly and ordered the recommended Signature Hot-oil Sauerkraut Fish soup. It came in a large shallow bowl swimming with dried chili peppers and Szechuan peppercorns with a bowl of rice on the side. The soup and contents were super hot and stayed warm until I was finished about 20 minutes later. The soup and fish were noticeably salty and the soup was not that spicy and did not have any vinegary taste. The crunchy pickles were thinly sliced wide planks and did not have much taste. The similarly wide rice noodles were slippery and hard to handle. The fish was mild and a little rubbery, probably to hold together in the soup.

I can see how this can be addicting with the peppers and peppercorns but it was too salty for me. Maybe an occasional repeat, it’s good.

Came here on a promotion day. Crowded but organized. Staff were nice and patient. Fish was tasty and flavorful. Scallion and tomato flavors are non spicy and good for kids. Otherwise, I like the signature hot-oil and classic spicy fish. Service was fast too. Another to go place in the South Bay!

“Fish with You” has a funny name, but it’s incredible. we went for lunch a few days ago. we will return often and bring friends here.

it’s Sichuan fish soup, which sounds simple, but OMG, it’s super delicious. so much flavor, with lots of fresh fish, vegetables, mushrooms, and more (you can pick what is added). the bowl is more than enough for two people. rice is fresh and unlimited, all the rice you want.

service is friendly and the place is simple but nicely designed and colorful.

it’s a chain from China, with 2,500 locations in 360 cities worldwide, incl. China, Dubai, London, and the US. selected as one of the top 100 restaurants in China.

you gotta go.

WHY WAS THIS SOOO GOOD??! I am a sucker for some really good soup, and that’s basically all they serve here.

I highly recommend the Signature Suancai & Fish!!! Wow sooo yum! The broth is tangy and savory. The rice and potato noodles perfectly soak up all the flavor. The snakehead fish was really tasty of course. Overall, I would come back just for this!

The Princess Tomato Soup was decent and worth a try, but it’s much more thick in consistency compared to the Signature. A really solid non-spicy option. The basa fish was so tender and cooked perfectly though! They were really generous with the enoki mushrooms and tofu (customizable). Tomato adds a strong acidic sweetness to the broth.

Located in the walking street of Downtown Mountain View, expect to look for street parking or garages. It’s conveniently located to many other restaurants and boba shops! Definitely check it out.

I know they’re famous for their fish but we really love the spicy beef (shui zhu niu rou). Fantastic flavor; not just spicy, very nice mix of aromatics

Also I’m picky about the rice and I like how they use small rice cookers. The rice tastes better

Finally I don’t have to drive all the way to Cupertino for picked vegetable fish! Same menu and decor like other branches except I don’t see the posters or table label “can eat 3 bowls of rice”! With many restaurants selling a bowl of small rice for $1.99-$3, this restaurant chain I would vote as the most generous Chinese restaurant in the bay area! Still dunno why I get a complimentary appetizer and dessert today but I must say this dessert will go to my every order each time I order my fish! Crispy outside juicy inside and yet not sweet. My kind of dessert.

The green peppercorn sauerkraut snakehead fish is incredible — super authentic, just like in China! The broth is sour, spicy, and fragrant, and the fish is fresh and tender. Easily my favorite spot on Castro Street!

My comfort food! Perfect for dine-in and takeout (and reheated leftovers!).

So far I’ve tried the green pepper, the tomato, and the lemon. First two are classics but the lemon one was surprisingly a hit, super refreshing and tangy. Recommend doing a large to split with a friend for a comforting communal meal.

Flavourful fish. Price is OK, although not the same price as Beijing. Lots of rice. Can add additional food for a price.
