Lovely place and atmosphere. I felt like I was in The Color Purple. The owner was very kind, staff friendly, and personable. The food and drinks were delish, though I wish there had been more meat on my oxtail. I would like to try brunch and try karaoke one day.

09.07.24-Did try brunch. Delicious! Had a violinist there playing jazz. The owner and staff friendly. Don’t sleep on this place!

Beautiful atmosphere and wonderful customer service. I recommend the Brunch special! The brunch plate was definitely worth it! The portion size can feed 2! Great place for a breakfast/ brunch date. I did try their dinner menu, but I enjoyed the brunch and breakfast more! Go give it a try. You won’t be disappointed!

We visited Ida Mae’s Juke Joint tonight, drawn in by the promise of live music and a lively atmosphere. The band, YOLO, was playing, and we were excited to enjoy some good food and great tunes.

When we arrived, we immediately noticed how beautiful the place is. We hadn’t made a reservation, so we were seated in the main area, away from the band. The band was set up in a smaller, more intimate section of the restaurant with limited seating. We asked the hostess if we could be moved to that section if a table opened up. She couldn’t make any promises, but we appreciated that she was willing to keep an eye out for us. Fortunately, after a short time, we noticed some people leaving, and we were able to move to the smaller room, which definitely enhanced our experience.

As for the food, it was solid. I ordered the Grits Experience, adding catfish and veggies. I loved the creativity of the dish, and it didn’t disappoint. The portion was generous, and the flavors were on point. My mom and husband both opted for the chicken wings and waffle fries. The wings were cooked perfectly, with my husband choosing a dry rub and my mom getting sauce on the side. They both enjoyed their meals.

We also tried the sweet potato bread, which was decent but didn’t quite hit the mark. It wasn’t as moist as we hoped and lacked the fresh taste we were expecting.

Overall, Ida Mae’s Juke Joint delivered a good night out with tasty food and excellent live music. If you’re looking for a fun spot with a great vibe, it’s worth checking out. Just make sure to get there early or make a reservation.

I experienced a beautiful brunch at Ida Mae’s Juke Joint. The restaurant is beautiful, the food outstanding, and the atmosphere was so serene. The violinist really helped set the mood. The manager serves as hostess and made sure to get every guest that entered. I watched the manager interact with her staff and she treated them with dignity as she instructed and gave feedback. She and the staff were engaging and inviting to guests. The servers were courteous and diligent at making sure to meet the needs of the patrons.
I loved it!

The staff is incredibly friendly and hospitable. The menu ideas are really creative and soulful. The place has a TON of potential. That said, the grits were seasoned beautifully, however could have been cooked quite a bit longer. There were a few things on the menu that were no longer offered, so an update to the menu would be a great step. The waffles were good, and the chicken was fried and seasoned to perfection. The pork chops, while thin and small, were seasoned beautifully. A double cut chop would have been the perfect choice for the dish. They seem to need a bit more help on Sundays to make for smoother service. Overall it was a pleasant experience, and I really hope the next time we visit from CLE they have refined a bit and are thriving, because we would like to give them another try.

Beautiful atmosphere, good music but the food is not good at all. Ida Mae is in dire need of some good cooks and some new recipes. The food is disgusting. I ordered catfish and grits. The grits were thick with no flavor whatsoever. The fish was okay but you don’t get much. I also ordered the spring rolls and the taste was awful. I was with 3 others who complained their food was also disgusting. One person’s waffles were burnt, the sweet potato topping was a dried out looking biscuit that tasted doughy. Another person ordered the Nola bowl with catfish and she received what looked like croutons on top of the rice. The catfish was cut into itty bitty little pieces that were the size of croutons. We paid 9.99 for a slice of store bought cake. The prices were okay, but the food isn’t even worth it! I would not recommend this place for food!

Cincinnati, there’s a new great place to dine, socialize, and listen to great music. I have to share the experience I had Saturday night at Ida Mae’s Juke Joint! There was no wait as the seating is very accommodating, and the food was fantastic. I was with a party of seven so we were able to explore the menu. We tried multiple appetizers and they were all delicious. Our server, Tempra was pleasant and didn’t miss a beat as she served appetizers and delivered specialty drinks from the bar. Our entree’s arrived piping hot as we tried an assortment of dishes from pasta, watermelon chicken (out of sight) and rib eye steaks. The ox tails looked as if my mother had prepared them in the kitchen herself. I could go on and on, but I want to make sure everyone knows about The Father’s Day extravaganza that’s coming up. It promises to be FANTASTIC!!!! If you want a great atmosphere, great food, great music, quality service and an enjoyable time with friends or family you’ve got to check out Ida Mae’s. The Executive Chef Liz Rogers took time to come out and greet us, and I could immediately tell why everything was so classy. She was very engaging and let us know there are many more great things coming in the future. Thank you Ida Mae’s Juke Joint, the management, the staff, the chefs and all others the are making the dining experience a pleasant one for the people of Cincinnati!!!

I can say this the staff at this restaurant was a 5 star however the food is definitely a 1 star. This place is simply couching prices. Had the chicken in waffles simply cut the waffles in half and place can slice peaches on them. Plus they give you 4 tiny pieces of chicken. No way that should had been $18 dollars. I had better food on the WestCoast. Plus they only do Brunch on Saturday. Only went here because a friend told me about the Brunch here. Definitely won’t be back your better off cooking at home
