Dined: 2 for lunch on 1/14/26
We arrived on the Celebrity Xcel. After walking through downtown and doing 2 tourist sites, we found Greengos. A great place with a small bar, some seating outside and inside. We ordered their Mango Especial, a blended margarita, and it was refreshing and tasty (see picture). For lunch, we ordered their 3 flour blackened Mahi fish tacos (it was EXCELLENT; fish cooked perfectly and the slaw & salsa added extra crunch and flavor) and they had a special order Chorizo soft tacos w/ side of beans/rice (the bean/rice are AWESOME! The tacos were very tasty but adding the salsa from my Mahi tacos put them up another level).
> my only complaint was the slow service. The bartender was working her butt off making drinks & delivering food. The other 2 servers were overwhelmed with the fact that there were 5 cruise ships in town. Our server forgot to bring water (had to ask twice) and then had to ask twice and wait for the extra salsa for the tacos.
> so if you’re not pressed for time, the FOOD is worth the wait! We will be back on our next port day (just hope there aren’t that many ships in port. lol)

First dinner in St. Thomas. The burritos were excellent. Holly, our hostess, was terrific – very professional and helpful. The art and design was incredible. An artist, whose name I photographed, is amazing. We highly recommend it.

Had the fish tacos along with white rice and broccoli. Chased it down with a VI Island Summer Ale. This really hit the spot after walking all morning shopping. Fun atmosphere with open windows overlooking the harbor.

Really stale service. No one there seems to want to work there. Difficult to park. Very difficult. Food is okay, but they force a 18% “gratuity” on you for any sized party….which means it isn’t a gratuity at all.

They nickel and dime you too. $7 for chips and two tiny shot glasses of salsa and then charge you each time you ask for more. Just to go with the chips you already paid $7 for.

The salads were okay. Fresh a d decent flavor. Service was very disappointing.

Not a fun place.

We went here for some spicy Mexican. The food was mid, otherwise very bland and not authentic or good really. It came out hot and there were no other issues but the prices you’re paying are to dine in town, not to eat something really good. They have a ghost pepper salsa you can order – but if you want chips with that, they’re a separate order apparently? The salsa was good and very spicy. There are better taco places throughout the area. This is definitely a location of convenience.

Probably the most subpar Mexican food I’ve had in a really long time. Bland tacos that felt like I just made them at home with Walmart groceries for taco Tuesday. I asked for sparkling water, which they didn’t have and was brought soda water which I was fine with until I realized it tasted like sewer water. Asked for regular water and got charged for the “soda water” and the regular water.

Neither one of us was interested in finishing our meals. Chips and salsa? That’s $7 or $8 extra. Mexican food is one of my favorites and I can’t tell you how many times I have been to a Mexican restaurant and have never been charged extra for chips and salsa. Let alone tasteless chips, and salsa that taste like water.

— Oh and they graciously help themselves to a 20% tip added to your bill without asking. I don’t think they understand what a “tip” means or how that works. What I’m most confused with is how this place doesn’t have a lower rating.

Server was nice though.

Greengos Caribbean Cantina – St. Thomas, USVI

Greengos Caribbean Cantina was one of my favorite spots in St. Thomas! The food was incredibly good, very affordable, and felt truly authentic. I loved the enchiladas so much on my first visit that I came back another day just to try the tacos — and they did not disappoint!

The jalapeño margarita was excellent (highly recommend), and what really stood out to me was how knowledgeable and attentive the staff were about celiac disease. They were well-educated on what was safe for me to eat and made me feel completely comfortable dining there, which is such a gift when traveling.

Great food, great prices, and great service. I’ll absolutely be back the next time I’m in St. Thomas!

Really good food and drinks. The service was friendly and quick considering. The classic margaritas were tasty, and the chicken tacos were an excellent choice. Good seating inside and outside.

We showed up 15 minutes before they closed and was asked if we could take it to go. Our rental was only 2 blocks away so we agreed. The food was really good and their vegetarian selections were awesome. They have a tofu mix for the protein that is really good.

The food was great, it definitely has a little bit of a kick to it. The atmosphere was very authentic and neat, just a little compact, but they did have outdoor seating. The margaritas were absolutely delicious! Overall, we had a great time. It was a really cool experience in a neat area of the city
