The waitstaff was friendly and paid attention to our needs. The atmosphere was pleasant. Food overall was great. Only issues I had was my steak was a bit tough. It took forever for me to get my meal. The others in my party had already eaten by time I got it. Wasn’t waitress fault. Kitchen was behind and arguing instead of getting dishes out. Management didn’t offer any discount or apology. Waitress was wonderful tho. I still come back in hopes it was an off night. The food in my party everyone else enjoyed. Nice variety in menu.

Umi Sushi & Grill is hands down our go-to sushi spot in the Grand Rapids area. The quality is consistently excellent, the fish is always fresh, and everything is beautifully prepared. We love stopping in for the lunch specials—they’re such a great value and never disappoint—but dinner at Umi is just as enjoyable and always feels like a treat.
The menu has something for everyone, whether you’re craving classic rolls or want to try something new, and the service is friendly and reliable every single time. Incredible food!!! I already can’t wait to come back! Awesome service, our waitress was kind and everything was incredibly fast. We got the zen box and salmon poke bowl. I have been looking for a place to get a bento box and this is it!!! Their yum yum sauce is also made in house which was the cherry on top.

This place has great food that is always high quality. Sushi/Nageri is most often what I come here for due to the freshness. The drinks are good too ranging from cocktails to sake. The hibachi food is good but it’s rice is missing the garlic butter that the cheaper chain restaurants give. The service is great and the food comes out shortly after ordering. Overall, I absolutely love this place and 100% recommend you try it.

I decided to try a new sushi place in Grand Rapids, Michigan. My server was Emily and she was very friendly and attentive. She made pleasant small talk that made me feel welcome and at ease. I saw the barista making a coffee drink and she said they have an espresso machine. It was a very good latte. I ordered the Mrs. Salmon which come with 5 pieces of Salmon Nigiri, 1 Salmon Roll, Miso Soup, and a House Sesame Dressing Salad. I also ordered the Ikura (salmon roe) Nigiri. The salad was sublime. 5 star Dressing. The Miso was adequate but the salad more than made up for it. The sushi was a good deal. Big cuts of fresh fish and lots of it $17. The Ikura was fresh and a good portion $8. Total was $31.80 and I felt this was a good value for such a sushi feast. Great atmosphere with full bar. I will be back. I recommend this place.

The sea bass was incredible. Some of the best yellowtail ive ever had, and the eel was so tender!
Service was a bit slow to check up on my table, but I think there was only 1 server so im sure he was busy.
Also the lychee martini was very fruity refreshing and delicious and not too strong.
If youre looking for the best tasting sushi in the grand rapids area, Umi Sushi and Grill is a top contender, for a very reasonable price.

The specialty rolls and sashimi are of top quality, and on par with the finest presentation and flavor anywhere. Our family of 5 unanimously agreed, we will definitely be back, and soon!

This is hands down my favorite sushi spot! Every roll I’ve tried has been amazing, but the Dabomb Roll and 68St Roll are next level. Super fresh and amazing flavor.
