The tiki/beach vibe here is unmatched, 10/10 would recommend. Menu is extensive and the plates we ordered in general did not disappoint. The Cuban sandwich was spectacular, and while the shrimp tacos alone had great flavor I found it odd that it was serviced with tortilla chips but no salsa. May just be me but seems like a simple no-brainer combination. Service was ok, had to flag down the server a few times for refills and the check but he was always within eyeshot so that made it easier (he just didn’t visit our table proactively very often). All in all, would return for the waterfront view and Caribbean vibe/food, we dined in the pouring rain and could still enjoy the scenery from the covered patio!!

We came to The Getaway for a Friday night date. Overall, the experience was okay.
We were seated quickly and the hostess was very kind. The scenery and atmosphere are definitely the highlight. The view is beautiful and the space is nicely decorated. That part of the experience really stands out.
The Bang Bang Shrimp appetizer was fresh, flavorful, and easily the best part of the meal.

Unfortunately, the rest of the food was very average. I ordered the fish sandwich, which is listed on the menu as coming with remoulade. I asked for no tomato, but it arrived with tomato anyway. The sandwich itself was dry and lacked flavor. The batter did not seem seasoned, and the remoulade was missing entirely. It was just fish, lettuce, onion, and tomato on a very thick bun with no sauce. By the time someone came by to ask for the remoulade, the sandwich was already getting cold. The fish itself was good quality, but the execution fell short.

Also worth noting, there are no substitution options for sides other than choosing between two other types of fries (sweet potato or Yuca)

My husband ordered the patty melt. It was good, but nothing memorable. Fries were good.

Drinks.. I ordered a mojito and asked for a different spirit, other than rum. I expected an upcharge, but the drink went from $13 to $21 with no mention that the liquor change would be an additional $8. When I asked about it, we were told that the gin we asked for comes as a 3 ounce pour instead of a standard 1.5 ounce, essentially a double that I did not ask for. That was disappointing and should have been communicated upfront.

Overall, the experience was lacking. The food was okay, with the exception of the shrimp appetizer. The views and atmosphere are great, and it may be a nice spot for drinks and vibes, but we likely will not return for the food.

Overall, this was a really awesome vibe. We had a reservation and we got there and we were seated pretty quickly, but it took about 15 to 20 minutes for a server to come over to us. Once we had the server, we got our drinks which were delicious and the food was also good. There was a lot of bees all over the place while eating. Obviously this is an outdoor restaurant but just wanted to state that fact. It was an occasion hard to get a hold of our server and we ordered appetizers and entrées, and unfortunately everything came out all at once. Overall, the vibe was good and we would go back. It’s absolutely beautiful there.

I found this place on TikTok and decided to bring my husband here for lunch for his birthday.

The location is beautiful and relaxing since it’s right by the water. Unfortunately, the overall experience didn’t match the scenery.

The service was lackluster, and the food was just okay—nothing that stood out. Also, you really have to keep your food covered or you’ll end up sharing your meal with the birds, which was a big disappointment and takes away from the dining experience.

Our server, Gregory, was the bright spot of the visit. He was friendly and did a decent job—I’d give him a solid B with room for improvement.

This place has potential because of the location, but they definitely need to tighten up in several areas before I’d recommend it.

They deceitfully overcharge. We had an additional 5% included in our subtotal. I ordered 3 items and no drinks. I did NOT add wrong. The overcharge was exactly 5.00% and shockingly (not really) there was no detail receipt in the folder. Gee, I wonder why…

Yeah, the atmosphere is great. Service was fine. However, the food had little flavor and the drinks (which I purchased at the bar before being seated) were incredibly weak and very sour for the $$$.

Definitely a one-and-done place. Much better waterfront options in St Pete where they don’t fraudulently overcharge you and not give you the tab so you won’t notice. Will never return.

This was a great place to eat. Fantastic atmosphere. Right on the South Gandy Channel. Big place. Lots of room. Birds everywhere. They were a little noisy but we really enjoyed having them near us. Our server was wonderful. And the food served quickly and was over the top. Crab cakes. Yum yum in my tum. Desserts were fabulous. Well hidden. But we didn’t know the area very well. Easy access.

A friend invited us to lunch here today and I had never been. It is really a great place to check out. The food is great, the service is top notch, everyone is friendly and the ambiance was stellar. Here are a few pictures of the around the area.

A friend of mine came from out of town, and not within three minutes of sitting down bees, swarmed our table. The waiter told us that that was normal and they would not sting, but my friend is allergic. We then asked politely if we could move, and she said that was fine. So they moved us to a different part of the seating area, and the bees, then swarmed again to the point where we counted at least 20 at one time. We tried to remain calm and the waiter told us to swat them away with our menus if they got bad. It got to the point that it was unbearable. They were in our food and in our piña coladas. The waiter comped, one drink, but we still paid for our full experience and it was so bad that we actually got our meals to go. the table next to us and said that the bees have overtaken and felt bad & also said they felt like leaving. I definitely do not recommend.

Let’s start with the good. The location is fantastic. Right on the water, super scenic, and honestly one of those spots where you think, “Yeah, this is gonna be great.” The staff was friendly and polite, and the vibe itself is solid.

Now… the wait begins.
It took about 20 minutes just to get a margarita and two beers at the bar. After that, we waited 35 minutes to be seated, and then a full hour after ordering for our food to arrive. We ordered two burgers and a shrimp bowl nothing wild or complicated.
I totally understand that it’s the holiday season and the place was busy, but what made this frustrating was that there were a lot of employees working. When I asked both the server and manager how much longer it would be, I was told that waiting an hour to an hour and a half for food is normal here. If that’s the case, that expectation really needs to be communicated before guests are added to the seating queue because that’s absolutely not a normal wait for casual dining.

The food itself was… fine. It arrived hot and fresh, but nothing memorable and definitely not worth the wait we endured.

Bottom line:
If you come here, eat beforehand. Then show up for drinks, the view, and the atmosphere. The waterfront alone is worth a visit but come prepared, patient, and not hungry.
