Terrible customer service. Bland, tasteless food. WAY OVERPRICED.
We are locals and had such high hopes for this place, so what a colossal disappointment!
When we walked in we were not greeted with a smile, but a young lady named Kaylin that seemed frustrated and overwhelmed. We tried to cut her some slack since she seemed to be the only server for the whole restaurant and we were very kind and patient with her, despite her attitude. We even gave a 25% tip when we paid up front since it seemed like she was having a bad day and we felt a little bad for her. But things quickly went south after that despite our genorsity and kindness, and it’s clear Hummingbird Cafe has much room for improvement.
First, the food is just plain terrible, or average at best. We came here because the website said they source local and I was expecting great food quality, but this was nothing more than average tasteless ingredients.
Secondly, they screwed up our order as well and were not at all apologetic about it which only frustrated me.
Thirdly, service was very slow. Again, we tried to be patient but you literally just slapped roast beef on some bread and forgot ALL the toppings and that took you 30 min to make??
The pictures show it all. A hastily slapped together sandwich and a breakfast wrap. For the price of the food I certainly expected better quality. The roast beef on the sandwich was dry with crappy bread and again, they forgot all the toppings. Was someone not awake back there?
The only redeeming quality was the ambiance. I loved the hummingbird theme and some of the art work, however the bathroom was disgusting. Smelled terrible and was filthy with no toilet paper.
tea was so incredibly delicious I almost drank my partners glass of it… then I got my iced latte…Dear goddess…I was in heaven. Everything was so delish and affordable. The atmosphere was fun! I even got to buy a pair of lovely handmade earrings. 10/10
As soon as we walked in, we were advised there might be a wait for food, but were welcomed in. Service was amazing and friendly.
Food was on point! We ordered 4 slices of French toast and the traditional breakfast. The bacon was crispy (personally my preference), the red potatoes were the perfect amount, eggs were flavorful. The French Toast was a huge portion and totally smothered in berries. It was good!
Super friendly staff that we’re very attentive and welcoming even though we came in a little late and left right at closing. They even came around and gave us a fair warning to put in any food orders before the kitchen closed.
Highly recommend
Located in an old typical Butte mining town brick edifice, this place is fun to navigate, with lots of corners to round and nooks to discover.
Mostly for breakfast and lunch, Hummingbird doesn’t have any pastries, but the avocado toast was delicious, and one of the great vegan options.
Sit at one of the four courtyard tables for al fresco, or find your favorite inside spot.
The intimate atmosphere from the imperfect and super nice staff tickled me to death.
I had a very good latte: smooth, warm, and at a drinkable temperature when served (too many places serve you a scalding hot latte).
Ordered the French toast and a breakfast sandwich with bacon. They didn’t skimp on the bacon, which was very appreciated. They use real maple syrup (more golden/delicate than dark and robust) and it went well with the fresh berries on top.
They have tons of seating, including outdoor seating. I would definitely come back for breakfast or lunch anytime.
Worth noting that the music choice was also on-point. Whoever was running Spotify was doing something right!
