Service was warm and immediate…water arrived right away, along with a generous bread basket featuring the best toast sticks (honestly worth mentioning on their own).
We started with the eggplant appetizer, which was spot-on: the right balance of tomatoes and fresh mozzarella, and the perfect way to wake up the palate. The wild mushroom salad was equally delicious…earthy, satisfying, and beautifully composed.
For mains, we had the pappardelle with lamb ragù. The flavor and texture were excellent, though I was a little surprised to find the lamb was ground rather than shredded. The true standout, though, was the swordfish Milanese…perfectly crisp, not heavy, and made even better by the fresh tomato salad layered on top.
We paired it all with a lovely Italian red and finished with tiramisu. All in all, a fantastic evening…the perfect escape from the cold.
One thing to watch out for is the additional charge to split a dish. I haven’t come across anything like this before. We wanted to share the chicken dish and we were charged this for splitting. But we didn’t even mean to say we wanted it split as having it on one dish is fine. Just something to look out for since I’m not a fan of the more “hidden” fees.
We enjoyed the outdoor seating. The road is not very busy with cars/pedestrians so it was peaceful. The only thing I’d fix is the tables for two were pretty small.
Great service from our waiter and the rest of the staff. All outdoor tables were covered by one waiter so I thought he was doing a great job!
Food was great. The clam dish was interesting in that it wasn’t a traditional clam sauce as it was pretty light. A bit lacking in flavors because of that
The lobster ragu was great. Lots of lobster, good flavors. The pasta here was interesting in that it was very much like lo-mein, kinda odd but thought it was cool
The chicken dish was unique with the stuffings. It was a bit dry. The sauce and potatoes were perfect though.
The profiteroles were good. Not too sweet and a good mix with the ice cream in the center.
Overall, expensive for what it is but I’d be willing to come back to try some of their other dishes
Loved the tuna tartare, so fresh and crunchy. That little cloth-wrapped lemon stole my heart. Such a sweet touch!
Will definitely come back.
Don’t forget to get tiramIsu! You will not regret it!!
Don’t pass up an opportunity to go to the fantastic restaurant if you are visiting or living in the area!!
Took 20 min to get our drink orders another hour to get appetizers. We had a show starting strictly at 9:30 so I never actually got to eat my pasta dinner since it arrived moth burning hot at 9:25.
We had mentioned to the staff a few times about our show time to which they shrugged and kept ignoring our table. We never had the opportunity to order a 2nd drink.
At the end I mentioned the issues to the manager and that we had to leave without eating our main course because of the delays. Without apology the manager offered (just me) a drink on the house as if another 20 min delay was going to solve for us missing our show.
Waiter hit me in the head a few times on the service, they took our appetizers before we were finished (only to have us wait another hour), I never got a big fork after asking a few times.
The food looked good, wish in 2 hours they could have managed to serve me a pasta plate.
