The Munch Travelogue
Taco Bar is a hyper local family restaurant located in Gaithersburg, MD that is dedicated to serving the community and paying homage to the food ways of Mexico.
The restaurant reopened their doors after being affected by a tragic fire that resulted in the owners having to rebuild from scratch.
During my visit I to tried the following:
– Horchata
– Guacamole & Homemade Tortilla Chips
– Lengua (Tongue) & Pastor Street Tacos
– Birria Pizza w/ Consome
– Churros
– Torta Milanese
Everything was delicious and reasonably priced but the ultimate standout was that consome! If I wasn’t in a public place I would have drank the broth directly from the bowl.

Been going to Taco Bar for years and have fallen in love with the Burriloco! Was so sad to hear about the fire. I really felt for the staff, patrons and the business. We were waiting for them to open back up and we were so excited they were open again.
Beautiful new interior, updated menu but the same great food, welcoming environment and friendly staff. Highly recommend! Give them a try, bring a friend and always support local businesses and our local economy ♥️

I ordered today and spent $91 for me to end up trashing most of the food because of the bad smell of the tortillas used on my tacos. Called and complaint and the lady said they have been using yellow tortilla which I don’t like at all and worse pasty is that she did not even offer me a discount or credit for their bad experience without letting a client know about the tortilla. I had to eat tacos with out a tortilla

This taco restaurant is amazing! Their guacamole is made from scratch in open kitchen. Their chips are also made to order. I love their street tacos and it makes it so convenient that they have taco bar and you can put your own ingredients. The restaurant is tiny but always immaculately clean. The staff is so pleasant and helpful. I found it by accident because I work near by. I stop in at least once every 2 weeks for takeout. I highly recommend!

I have eaten at Taco Bar dozens of times and gave them a glowing review. The restaurant was almost empty when I went in today. I stood at the counter for a minute, ready to order. The woman behind the counter ignored me. Then another group entered and she promptly took their orders.

Terrible terrible. Came here to try out the food since we miss taco bar el guero. No comparison. The steak in the steak tacos was pale and chewy. No flavor. Horrible enough to make me nauseous after biting it. I give it one point for the sope which was the only decent thing. We ordered a torta and all you could taste was the bread. Again no flavor. Please take notes from the other taco bar.

I highly recommend you stop by. The best part is you can either be solo or have a nice chill date with your SO, the ambiance is amazing! The food is on another level, Birria Pizza is out of this world I had 5 slices without even realizing it (SMH). The birria tacos are .
The churros were absolutely fantastic. The regular ones had me stuck but when the chocolate filled churros came out that was it, they were beyond fantastic!
I highly recommend Taco Bar!

Taco bar is an awesome place with real delicious food. I usually go to Olney, MD but decided to go to the one in Gaithersburg for short distance.
The burrito in menu is described that includes rice, beans, sour cream and taco meat.
They charged for full burrito but only add rice and meat… dry.
Pozole, wrong meat and minuscule piece not good.
I rather recommend to go to Olney location. Worth the trip.

Taco Bar is the real deal with an authentic taste and a local crowd. The recipes come from Mexico but there are some modifications, like vegan options. I could not stop eating the guacamole. The salsa bar is awesome. The service is excellent, just like in a hometown diner. The décor is slightly modern with wonderful alebrijes, those fantastical Mexican sculptures. I’ll be going back with my friends next week!
