Hearty, American comfort food like baked clams and drinks served on red-checkered tablecloths.

Bernie’s is a neighborhood gem! The food and the service are impeccable. Most people come for the chicken parmesan (classic and delicious) but you can’t go wrong with your choice for dinner. We typically opt for shrimp cocktail, the wedge salad (comes with a big juicy slice of thick cut bacon!), the burger and the chicken piccata. The chicken parm and piccata are both large enough to share with multiple people (or a nice portion for takeaway). Don’t sleep on the sundae for dessert – every meal needs a sweet treat at the end!
The service staff are welcoming, friendly, and happy to suggest items if you’re indecisive or need guidance. Once ordering, expect a short wait for appetizers. The kitchen is quick and efficient.
They don’t take reservations, which is a tad disappointing if you’re a planner but it’s pretty easy & simple to snag a table. They start taking names at 4pm Fri-Sun. We showed up at 4:30, and put our name down for a table which opened up around 6pm. We chose to grab a drink around the corner while we waited, but you’re more than welcome to grab a drink at the Bernie’s bar if there’s room!
Highly recommend this cozy neighborhood spot for a delicious meal and great martinis.

The food is just okay-not worth the wait time in my opinion. I’ve been a few times, they make good dirty martinis and I do love their drenched wedge salad. I don’t recommend the mozzarella sticks. The burger is fine, as are their other staple dishes like Chicken Parm. You can find better versions of the same food at other more accessible places in the neighborhood. The interior decor is a vibe- but not sure the food and dismissive service is worth it. I think you go for ‘the experience’ and appeasing someone who wants to check it off their foodie list. It also attracts a bit of an elitist and influencer type crowd.

I get the hype around this place now. Bermie’s has a nice casual atmosphere, great service, and generous portions of great comfort food.
I ordered the burger, and it was outstanding—a big, perfectly cooked, juicy patty stacked with fresh toppings and served with some nicely done onion rings. And if you’re there on a weekend, don’t skip the tiramisu. It’s to die for and honestly better than what a lot of Italian restaurants serve. The only downside is how popular this place is. They don’t take reservations, and by the time I arrived around 6 p.m., the wait was already about an hour for a seat at the bar. They were turning away larger parties not long after. So definitely get there early, and if you’re coming with a group, maybe have a backup plan. Overall though, a great night and a place I’ll happily return to.

I love Bernie’s. I classic, super popular spot in Brooklyn…but never acts too good for anyone and always tries their best to make room for any visitors.
I had such a fun time here.
Granted, I mostly came for some pre-gaming activities before going into midtown Manhattan, so I don’t have any personal experience with the food here, but from as far as I can share, I had an amazing time when it came to the drinks and vibes.
The service itself is impeccable – everyone is so friendly, accommodating, and hospitable.
I also love the selection of brews here, and….yeah!
You know, I just had a really great time!!
Good drinks, and amazing vibes!
I highly recommend!
And yes, I would love to return in the future and try out the food.
Either way, my advice for now is a resounding YES for visiting!

One experience here just goes to show that food influencers on Tik Tok and Instagram taste with their eyes. Everything at this restaurant is fine. Photogenic first, fine second. It’s gussied-up adult junk food. The wedge salad is admittedly tasty and dressed to look sort of like a birthday cake — fun, but also $25. It sort of foreshadows the visual appeal of the sundae (again, photogenic and fine). The onion rings are highly executed too — no onions slithering out of the coating which shows care and attention to detail. But this burger people freak out over? It’s okay. And I care much more about the way a mozzarella stick tastes than the way the cheese looks when you pull it apart. The eggplant parm is crispy but has no real opinion. Chicken with vinegar peppers, again, fine. In order to get in without waiting for hours, you have to stand in line to wait for them to open. And THEN the servers rush you through dessert courses to make room for the next seating? Folks gotta calm down on this spot.

I suppose a host could be nicer and cooler than Matt but I can’t imagine how.
After pulling up a stool and having a beer while waiting street-side, we got a great table and had an amazing meal.
Alex, our waiter, was fantastic, fun, and efficient.
The burger was great. The mozzarella sticks, too. Save room for dessert and get the lemon icebox pie.
Fantastic experience.

If you’re looking for that perfect intersection of NY nostalgia, neighborhood charm and top-tier comfort food this place is it! I met up with a friend for drink and dinner and it did not disappoint! The vibes here are truly awesome for this gal pal catch up- warm, unpretentious, and buzzing with energy. A massive shoutout to our bartender, Katie, who was absolutely amazing. She kept the drinks flowing and the hospitality high! Me and my friend kicked the evening off with a martini (classic) and opted for the burger, mozzarella sticks and shrimp cocktail. Sure those are interesting choices for almost 40 year olds but it was insanely good. The burger was classic with a twist, pickles were crisp and crunchy and that sauce was a mix of in and out and micky Dee’s classic and comforting. The mozzarella sticks were insanely good, thicker than your average, filled with quality cheese! I didn’t just leave with full stomach and full heart, I also left with some swag for my kiddo who is also burger obsessed. It’s those little extra touches that turn a great dinner into a memorable experience. Whether you’re there for a full meal or just a martini at the bar, Bernie’s delivers! Thanks for a great night out!

Love Bernie’s, wish i lived closer or they took reservations. It was fun having drinks on the sidewalk while waiting for a table, the martini was spot on. Everything we had was like the best version of that dish I’ve had. Onion rings, mozzarella sticks, baked clams, the wedge salad, the cheeseburger, all were delicious. I want to come back to try the ribs and vinegar chicken
