This was my second time visiting (traveling from North Florida)i believe first time was 2021. Anyhow, was staying approximately 45 minutes North of Asheville, and was visiting a few local attractions in Asheville, wanted to get something for dinner locally, and came across Packs Tavern. Not knowing the area very well, I remembered it being very good. Thankfully this visit was not as busy as last time (no fault to restaurant, last time I came it was a holiday weekend, or memorial day weekend or big football weekend, and party of three). But this time was myself and significant other, and we were seated right away… The service was extremely excellent, and food tasted as great as i could remember! I wanted to try a little bit of everything, however I went Prime Rib Dip Sub (sandwich). Also ordered Tavern Pretzels & Beer Cheese as appetizer (for splitting), and Firehouse Bison Chili (soup) for myself. Everything turned out delicious, and the atmosphere is very warm and welcoming (clean and spacious). I very much recommended trying if in Asheville area! The prices are reasonable and portions are very nice and filing. (Prices vary on menu item selected) Thank you all at Packs Tavern for another wonderful visit, and hope to visit again soon!

We were visiting Asheville for the first time and were looking for a great place to eat that would allow dogs. It was a cold and windy day, so we needed a place that had an indoor patio. Pack’s Tavern patio was perfect!! It was warm (heated unit above) and enclosed. Our dog Boba enjoyed a snooze while we enjoyed some delicious pub food. We ordered the elote corn dip as an appetizer which was so yummy! For meals, we had the fish and chips, blackened chicken pasta, bison meatloaf, and Cuban sandwich. Thumbs up for all. Highly recommend this place for the food and atmosphere. Five paws for the dog friendliness!!

A wonderful place to unwind at the end of the day. Great atmosphere, very attentive staff. By far THE Best fried green tomatoes we’ve ever had. My husband loved the wild mushroom pizza & the prohibition pot roast lives up to it’s hype. We will definitely be back whenever we’re in Asheville.

Our first time visiting here and oh my did not disappoint!!! Parking is a little tricky but once you get inside the atmosphere is so incredible! Such a cool, historic building! Our waiter Jackie was incredible; very friendly, made excellent recommendations and just made you feel at home. We had the fried green tomatoes as appetizer (which is the only pic of food I got) that were over the top! We split a pizza and much was out of this world! The crust was amazing!! We each had a salad – he had homemade blue cheese dressing and I had homemade ranch dressing… WOW! We will definitely be coming back here!! Highly recommend ❤️❤️

A Must Stop!

Our month-long roadtrip from Ohio to Nashville, Sandestin, Sarasota, Plant City, Ocala, St. Augustine, Charleston, Alpharetta, GA, Asheville then Charlotte, NC provided many opportunities to experience great food and service and boy, did we!

A clear winner was our lunch stop at Pack’s Tavern on Thursday, February 12, 2026. After working up a great appetite after traipsing around the shops and galleries of Asheville, we settled on Pack’s at the recommendation of a clerk at the General Mercantile store nearby. We were not disappointed.

A great atmosphere supported by the tavern look and architecture, quick to be seated at the heart of lunch hour, and great service provided by Jackie V who I eventually learned is Giaocchino Vanerelli, a paisan, making it even better.

He showed us great attention and care…presenting the menu which has so many options, providing some insight into his favorites, the drink options and their local beers, and simply caring for us was terrific. One of the best along our long journey!

We highly recommend Pack’s Tavern should you want the best experience and fantastic food! We’ll go back!

Great restaurant in an historic building on Pack Square in Ashville NC. I ordered the spicy chicken pasta, which was delicious, one of their signature dishes. It was spicy but not overpowering, served with a garlic bread stick. My better half ordered the bison meatloaf, it was very tasty, and filling. We were there at shift change. Jack, our 1st server, was great, very helpful with menu questions, and questions about the area and how the area has recovered from the hurricane damage. Our 2nd server Terra, was awesome, not just because she shared the same name as my wife, which is highly unusual, but her parents were from our home town. She was friendly, attentive and a great conversationalist. The prices of food were fair. The darkside beer flight was very good, as was the margarita.

Cool historical place, good food and excellent service.
The seating process was seamless. Even on a busy Saturday night w/o a reservation and a huge festival happening out front, we were seated within 25 minutes.
Our server was great, answered our 20 questions, made suggestions and was very patient.
The menu options were plentiful and there was something for about any palate and dietary preferences. The beverage selection was also very good.
It teeters on the edge between sports bar and gathering place for foodies. A bit to loud for a romantic dinner but a great place for a group or just a quick bite.

Cool little spot for a beer and a good time. Had a pizza (undercooked in my opinion for about 7 minutes) and some wings (quite good for breaded, but be wary of the Parmesan reaper. I had a pinky taste and it fired me up for a good 5 minutes. I can’t imagine what it would be like all over a wing)
Service was great.
Place was great. Enjoyed the outside patio while we waited for a table.

Every visit here has been satisfying thanks to the generous portions and reliable quality of the food. The team is welcoming and quick with service, which makes the experience even better. The brisket mac and cheese is a favorite at our table, and the Cobb salad was huge and filling.

I love the vibe in this place! It was a cold, rainy, blustery day and this place warmed our hearts! The adorable car parked out front is the beginning of a cool visual experience! The front door decorated with cute fall decor was really pretty. We were greeted right away and told there would be a 10 minute wait. And that was pretty much spot on. We were taken to a table in a separate room that I couldn’t see from where we were waiting and I was so surprised! Big room…great look! Lots of windows and warm wood furniture. We were greeted quickly by our server, Jack. He was great! So friendly! He offered suggestions and gave insight on items on the menu. He was really great the entire time we were there and took good care of us! We ordered the Sunburst pizza based on his suggestion and we loved it! Sooo good! We also split a bowl of French Onion soup to share which was so good and enjoyable on a cold, rainy day! We were only visiting Asheville, but if we lived here, I think this would be a favorite spot! Please go and check out Pack’s Tavern! It’s a cool place with good food and friendly people! I think you’ll like it!
