If you’re in Washington, D.C. and looking for a great place to start your day with amazing food and stellar service, North Gate Grill is an absolute must-eat destination. Nestled inside the Capital Hilton, this bright, cheerful, all-American grill showcases breakfast and brunch classics with a delicious twist and a welcoming atmosphere that makes every visit feel special.

From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by friendly staff and a comfortable setting — perfect for a leisurely breakfast, a power brunch, or a midday meal before exploring the city. What truly stands out here is the extraordinary quality of the food. The buffet offers a wonderful selection of fresh fruit, pastries, made-to-order omelets, and other breakfast favorites that cater to every taste and appetite.

One of the highlights is the breakfast buffet — it’s not just plentiful, it’s creative and delicious. Eggs cooked your way, fluffy pancakes, savory sides, and fresh-baked delights make each visit memorable and satisfying. And if you prefer à la carte, their menu of breakfast favorites delivers on flavor and presentation every time. Guests rave about the avocado toast, made-to-order omelets, and seasonal favorites that go above and beyond what you’d expect from a hotel restaurant.

What truly elevates the experience — beyond the food — is the service. Attentive, gracious, and genuinely welcoming staff ensure you feel well-taken care of from start to finish, making this more than just a meal — it’s an experience.

Whether you’re a local or visiting the nation’s capital, don’t overlook North Gate Grill. With delicious food made from quality ingredients, a great atmosphere, and service that makes you feel right at home, it’s a five-star l.

North Gate Grill at the Capital Hilton offers a delightful dining experience. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, perfect for both casual meals and business meetings. The breakfast options are good and the breakfast buffet is quite nice. Service is attentive, though occasionally a bit slow during peak hours. Overall, a solid choice!

I’m giving North Gate four stars because our server Nancy was absolutely fantastic. She said she has been working there for somewhere around 45 years and you can tell she really enjoys her job. Without Nancy, I’d give 3 stars. The breakfast buffet at $34 isn’t anything special, but I did really enjoy my avocado toast, which i’d recommend. The price for the quality of food is lacking, but service was exceptional.

The food is delicious but they got every order wrong. Every single one for the 2 days we were there; 4 meals. They’re a hot mess. I lucked out that I didn’t get anything I didn’t like. I unintentionally got to try new things (we did take out with them). However, the major reason for the low rating has to do with the very first order we made. We ordered eggs over easy with sausage, potatoes and milk. What I got was some sort of fish concoction with a spinach omelet and salad. Severe fish allergies run on both sides of my family. Luckily, I’m not one of them, but if I was with one of my allergic family members, this would have sent them to the hospital. The restaurant needs better procedures to make sure orders are correct and that there is no cross contamination.

If you have allergies, be very careful. Make sure to check your orders before you leave.

Had a quick breakfast there this morning and had a really good experience. Our server, Nancy, was outstanding. She was very friendly and warm. We enjoyed talking with her. Three of us in our party had the buffet, and one had the avocado toast. The food was good, but not outstanding. The prices were a bit high in my opinion. $5 for black coffee and $16 for a small bloody Mary is pretty steep. The buffet ended up actually being a pretty good deal because coffee and a mimosa were included in the $34 price tag. Honestly, I’d give Nancy 5 stars and the restaurant 3. So I compromised on a 4 star rating.

Nice, clean, standard Hilton breakfast restaurant. East Coast omelette was very good. My son enjoyed the blueberry pancakes. The breakfast buffet was fine, but not worth $34 in my opinion.

The waiter was mostly absent during the meal. Wildly overpriced for glorified hospital food. You are better off using your voucher for drinks and skip this sad, sad meal altogether.

$34 for the buffet and it is pretty much the usual. Nothing really stood out special. On another occasion I ordered something off the menu and it was just the same things as the buffet but like $8 cheaper. Coffee was great though and staff is nice.
