It’s not a taco truck…it’s a very cute little restaurant in the same strip as Sweeties in Hancock. Ah! Finally, perfect fajitas! Seasoned perfectly, not over-salted (hooray!). I stopped in to order mixed beef and chicken fajitas and chicken enchiladas to take home for dinner. I was graciously greeted and was beyond pleased with the quality, appearance, and taste of the food. We live just a few miles away and have just discovered this treasure right in our backyard. This will be our new go-to Cocina.

Visiting Canyon Lake from out of town, we stumbled upon La Pasadita Cocina Mexicana after a day of exploring the area, and boy, are we glad we did! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm hospitality that set the tone for the entire evening. Karla, our waitress, deserves a special shoutout for her friendly demeanor and helpful recommendations. Despite serving all the tables by herself, she ensured we felt well taken care of throughout our meal.

Now, let’s talk about the food – Chef Alvaro truly knows how to work his magic! Each dish we tried was like a burst of flavor straight from Mexico. From the fresh guacamole to the tortilla soup, puffy nachos, beef quesadilla, juicy steak, and the decadent Tres Leches Cake, every bite was a celebration of taste. It’s clear that they use quality ingredients and put heart into every dish they serve.

The restaurant itself has a cozy charm that adds to the overall experience. It may not be fancy, but it’s authentic and inviting. Discovering this hidden gem made our visit to Canyon Lake even more memorable.

So, if you’re craving delicious Mexican food in the area, La Pasadita is a must-visit. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed! And don’t forget to treat yourself to one of their large Margaritas on the rocks – it’s the perfect complement to a fantastic meal.

We made a good choice by picking up this restaurant last minute. Everything was super good. Great taste. (We forgot to tip our water, we sincerely apologize for that). But we’ll definitely come back.

Went this morning for breakfast tacos to-go. Service was great, fast and friendly. Place was empty which should’ve been a red flag. Absolutely Disgusting. We usually go across the street, but they’re closed on Monday. So, thought we’d try here. Got some potato, egg and cheese, bean and cheese and chorizo and cheese tacos with salsa and guacamole on the side. Haven’t even tried the other tacos, just one potato egg and cheese… that was enough. The potatoes weren’t cooked all the way, they used processed American cheese instead of real cheese, and the whole taco tastes like month old vegetable oil from the fryer. Just stale, funky oil. The salsa is off-color and has almost no flavor… just spice. The guacamole had zero salt or lime. For claiming to be “authentic Mexican cuisine”, I’ve gotten better tacos off a roach-coach!!!(and had a better stomach after!) 100% do not recommend… actually, I recommend the health department!

Not great. Bad service (one friendly person working the whole front on Friday night). Food not that good. Mixed fajitas and the shrimp are not peeled? Am I supposed to crunch the tails or dig the shrimp out and peel them ahead of time before putting them on the tortilla with a giant rip? Chips broken consistently in two bowls. Guacamole was decent but a tiny portion for 5 bucks. Charro beans good. Salsa good in a tiny mouthwash cup though. Television has been on pause the whole time. Needed a tea refill and kept looking to get attention. Once the sole waitress was drinking a refreshing beverage, twice she was texting, then after she finally came and got my glass to refill she took it to near the register, talked to a customer about the menu, took an order, took payment, then filled my tea glass, then went to the kitchen for a minute, then came out and got another table some chips, then returned my only tea refill. Wow. It takes a year or two to forget why I don’t come here but now I remember.

Rise and shine it’s breakfast time. Well for us, it’s more like brunch (I have trouble getting up and out these days). We drove into Canyon City (about 7 mins west of our campground) to try one of the local Mexican places.

So confession: what was supposed to be a breakfast tacos trip turned into a whole fried fish meal for Val and a child’s chicken enchilada plate for me. Along with fresh chips, homemade salsa, and some damn yummy (and huge portion of) fresh guacamole.

This place actually doesn’t have the highest number of reviews. Its competitor across the street does. Now that I’ve eaten at both though, I honestly think it deserves more love. The food was so yummy and fresh! Everything we had tasted homemade. The staff was very friendly and the portions are huge! (Did I mention the size of the guacamole?) .

Ya know, it was really busy with locals when we arrived so I’m betting it’s one of their secret spots. Let the tourists go to the other place. HA! And for only $24 including tip it was well worth it!

Wow!! We weren’t expecting much, but needed something before floating the river. This place delivered! Really good!! We got the Pollo Loco and #24 (can’t remember name) and they were so good. Simple, tasty, and flavored nicely. Salsa, chips and guac were good too. Friendly staff, quick service too. Will def return when we come back to area.
