Considering it was about $60+ per person for the tea service and snacks. They should be a bit more detail-oriented on service ie., water and tea refills. Just better service overall. The sandwich I had was dry and macaron looked sad and too sweet.
Personally, I understand this is a specialized style of dining but I can get a solo dinner at a really nice fine-dining restaurant with better food and tea.
Unfortunately, the service really detracted from the experience. At the end of our visit, we asked for to-go boxes, and our server seemed to completely forget about us. After roughly 20 minutes, she returned with boxes but never brought our dessert box. We waited another 20 minutes assuming she would return, but she did not — despite actively clearing other tables. Notably, nearby tables received their dessert boxes without issue.
While the ambiance and tea were excellent, the poor service left a disappointing final impression.
Aesthetics: Great
Tea: Fantastic
Food: Okay
Service: Very disappointing
The foods and tea were delicious!
We were the last people in the building as we finished our last pot of tea, but we weren’t rushed at all and it was so relaxing.
One thing I was really impressed with and was not expecting was that our server used my preferred pronouns without even having to be asked, probably thanks to having checked my ID for an alcohol order. It was a small touch but it was the cherry on top of an already amazing experience.
I can’t wait to go again sometime.
The tea is amazing though, I’d reccomend just buying the bags and calling it a day.
Overall the food was pretty good in the most conventional manners. The hollandaise sauce enhanced the flavors of the crab cakes and tweedle puff, and the side potatoes and fries are pretty well-made. I got the combo skillet which contained kielbasa, ham, bacon, etc. along with eggs that I ordered as made sunny side up. Nothing exceptional to highlight, but nothing exceedingly constructive that I would offer, either! Just pretty good standard brunch food is how I would put what my friends and I ordered from the Mad Hatter. Oh, I must say the cinnamon roll looked amazing! We ordered the “crazy Alice” version if I remembered the name correctly, and the presentation was something else! It definitely allowed me to take a good photo prior to indulging in its sweetness. It was slightly hard despite the menu saying it’s freshly baked, but putting some cream cheese frosting on top of a piece of cinnamon roll would make the experience more pleasant.
I do not normally visit the area so I am not sure when the next time will be that I return to this establishment, but I do recommend it to those who want to experience some “old school fairy tale” vibes with themes that reflected somewhat older times! And if I do return, I would definitely love to try their tea, or even get a chance to go for the Queen of Hearts!
Unique experience
The most diverse tea options to try
Pricy (+$60/pp)
Just expect many old fashion hats
And old British style tea parities
I understand that customer service can be busy and stressful, but basic courtesy goes a long way. I hope management looks into this and reminds staff how important it is to treat potential customers with respect. I’d still be willing to give this place another try, but this interaction definitely left a bad first impression. Just trying to get 5 generations of women in the same page is enough and then a business has this person working for them.
