We came here for breakfast! It did not disappoint! The hashbrowns were crispy the eggs were cooked to order and perfect! The pancake was delicious and huge. Just like my grandma used to make! Our server Josh was amazing and the atmosphere was so cozy and warm! I highly recommend this restaurant!

Stopped on our way back home, and so glad we did. My partner and I ordered breakfast. It was absolutely delicious! Quick service, very attentive waiter, and we only waited about 10 mins for our food. The pancakes were huge, hash brown nice and crunchy, and the sausage, just right. My partner got the chicken and biscuits which he absolutely loved. If we are ever around the area again, we’ll definitely be returning!

Smitty’ Cafe, what a gem!! We’d come here every day, if we lived here. Will definitely stop by on our way back home. Everything was great!! Onion rings, burger, sweet potato fries, and a BLT. Plenty of parking, immediately off of 290.

Popped in on a Sunday mid morning during a rush..lots of big tables. They let me know it was breakfast only and an hour wait on food at the moment but I wasnt in a hurry and after seeing the pics had to try it. Sat at the bar and Josh took care of me immediately. Was super helpful and accommodating. The food did take an hour but it was without a doubt worth the wait. Best breakfast I think Ive ever had. Should’ve gotten a picture… =/ skillet potatoes are out of the world and the biscuit, sausage, eggs and bacon were spot on. Friendly staff, clean restaurant, well lit and best food from Brenham to Houston as far as Im concerned. Can’t wait to go back.

The restaurant was very quiet when we arrived, and we waited for a bit to be seated but weren’t acknowledged. While waiting, we looked over the menu and found the prices to be quite high for standard breakfast items—over $20 for an eggs-and-bacon plate and $15 for two biscuits and gravy.
Given the lack of initial service and the pricing, we decided not to stay. The space itself seemed clean and calm, but the overall experience didn’t match the cost. With more attentive front-of-house service and pricing better aligned with the menu, this could be improved.

Great customer service, and the food was delicious. Made from scratch bread and biscuits. The chicken was moist. And they have fried cheese curds. Will definitely be back!! Don’t go too fast or you will miss it.

Little staycation.. tried somewhere new on our drive to Brenham.. to is through the city. Came just as the local folks and visitors came for lunch. The outside is humble and unassuming.. once you get past them doors.. whole another world! Team members have smiles all round.. no matter how busy they are… food is made fresh to order… it’s worth the few extra minutes… while you wait there’s plenty to have a chuckle over .. local verbal cliches on the walls .. to the baked goods – cookies and pies to melt and drool over .. up to you if you have room after the meal you sat down to… irresistible selection of pies … most folks get a slice or two for the road.

The fresh greens and fruit with homemade chicken salad- DELISH! Pork chop- Big hit with them skillet potatoes. Or try the CALLIE sandwich.. won’t be disappointed!
Right not it’s so pretty with the wildflowers blooming.. need no better reason to stop by!

Thank you for a lovely dining experience!
Smitty’s is worth the trip! ⭐️

On my way from Houston to Austin, I came across this place by chance. From the outside, it looked so interesting—almost like an abandoned gas station—that I thought the map might be wrong. The food was just okay, but I really liked the old-school vibe and ambiance. In my opinion, the star of the place was the friendly and positive woman who took our orders with a big smile.

When the wife sugested it i was skeptical.

I was also dead wrong. Chicken fried steak sandwich is fresh and delicious! Home cut fries and hand made sausage patties.

You will not be disappointed, unless your a Karen service hawk….. The pace is a little slow, much as you would expect in the country.

I was pleasantly impressed!
