This is the perfect place to get simple, good Middle Eastern food without someone trying to really play up the theme and ambience of it all. There’s no frills, no bells and whistles, just damn good food and the feeling that you’re inside of the fruit of a family’s labor. Great spot for lunch or a quick bite to eat.

I had tried their food in the past and it was horrible , too much spices and dry so never went back for that but recently I saw their advertising on tick tock that they bake Assyrian cookies so I figured why not let’s try it , we’ve been eating Assyrian cookies all our life so we know what they should taste like, the First Lady was nice and described what was in the package and than another lady came by to the register and she was rude with no smiles no hello or anything , I payed $10.00 cash for the 4 cookies as you see in the pictures and didn’t get a receipt, anyway I got home opened the package to try them and again was so disappointed, the first cookie was dry looked old with barely any filling as you see in the pictures so I looked at the other 3 they were already almost open all dry outside with very minimum filling inside, so I was gonna take them back but the fact that it’s an Assyrian place with Assyrian people owned they tend to disrespect you and gossip about returning, i definitely will never ever go back and will talk about my experience with this business, hopefully they will make their products better

I got the beef shawarma dinner plate, hummus, and baba ganoush. Unfortunately, the only thing worth eating was the baba ganoush. Everything else ranged from mediocre to downright inedible. The beef shawarma was dry and undersalted. The lentil soup that came with the plate had zero flavor. It tasted like someone just boiled lentils and rice in water and called it a day. The hummus was the worst of all: grainy, watery, and had a weird taste almost like it had started to spoil.

I’m unsure what it is about this place. Maybe it’s the cooks maybe it’s the Assyrian style of food but it is the best shawarma spot I have ever been too. No matter what ingredients are put in or left out. No matter if beef or chicken. I bet this shawarma would be delicious even with only their pickled veggies. I have had shawarma all around Illinois and even overseas. Absolutely my favorite spot of all time. The next door businesses are even amazing. Great food! Always calling me sweetie or sweetheart and when I’m handed my food I’m handed it with a smile almost like they’re just as excited as I am for being able to eat it. Either the lady working at the cash register or the one preparing my shawarma. The salon next door has extremely friendly owners and Arax foods has always been a go to since I was a child with amazing bread and hazelnuts. Fantastic place. Fantastic food, area, service. 100/5!

Always wanted to try this spot and finally did. Attempted to order through UberEats yesterday but looked like UberEats or the restaurant had to cancel because there weren’t any delivery drivers around the area. Anyway, first visit today was onsite and dine-in and it was a good experience. Friendly staff and answered and suggested best deals for all patrons who came in as first-timers. My husband and I ordered the One Person Combo – one for each. Even though we dined in, I am glad the food was prepped in take-home styrofoam – I knew I was going to have leftovers. The portions were worth the $18.99 price and beats the single meat Chicken Shawarma entree (which was also $18.99). The meats were juicy and I was a fan of their Shawarma meats when I am usually a Kabob fan. Pita was homemade, large, and nicely rolled up and wrapped in plastic wrap. Their Torshi (pickled vegetables) was perfect – a bit salty for some but I enjoyed it. I wish their white sauce/tahini was a bit thicker. I really liked their red hot sauce. Best I have had for a Middle-Eastern/Mediterranean fast casual restaurant. They also had some nice baked goods that I will definitely need to try next time.
