Visited for dinner at 5:30pm and was immediately seated. It took a while before the waitstaff came back over to take our drink orders and the a while longer before they came back to take out order. The waitress did apologize for taking so long but the weird thing was there were not that many patrons when we were there. We got three appetizers and the two person grill plate. All of it was so good. The only bummer was that they didn’t have gluten free pita bread for my wife who is gluten intolerant. Otherwise, it was a lot of food, too much, but it was all good. The hummus was exceptional.

Compared to other mediterranean restaurants, I found Al Hawr a little pricy. It was worth it though. My partner and I ordered the creamy chicken pepper to share. The chicken was tender and tasty by itself but it tasted even better with the cream. I ordered the lahme which was really tender and juicy. The grilled veggies on the side were good as well. I didn’t like the texture of rice. It was like I got rice from the bottom of pan. The employees were friendly, but could have been more attentetive; I had to ask for another cup of water. I didn’t see any flies, but our table and chairs had a little bit of food debris.

Four of us went to Al Hawr the other night. The plates looked clean and the flavors were consistent from start to finish. Must visit location to eat in Portland!!!!

We started off with some appetizers, hummus, halloum, and deep fried dough filled with spinach. The hummus came with warm break and had a smooth texture, rich olive oil, paprika on top, fresh mint in the center. The presentation matched the taste. The halloumi dish came on a bed of greens with tomatoes, cucumbers and topped with grilled halloum cheese. Simple and strong. The fried dough filled with spinach is amazing, I could eat these all day. Simple and very tasty.

I ordered for my main meal the lamb chops, which didn’t disappoint. The meat was tender with a solid char, and a portion size that works. The basmati rice had good seasoning and the grilled vegetables balanced the plate. The red sauce added heat without taking over. Worth every penny!!!

The dessert was the star of the meal, watch the video! The baklava assortment arrived on a tray surrounded by dry ice, which created a fog that rolled across the table. It made a memorable finish with each piece having different tastes that were fresh with good flavor.

Everyone’s meal was spot on, the service is great. You get quality food, good service, and a fun experience. All I can is WOW and definitely worth the visit!!!

I don’t know why it took six years to find Al Hawr, but it is the most authentic yet delightfully creative Lebanese restaurant I have encountered. It is family run (and they have a delightful family dynamic!) with excellent menu recommendations and the best service. If you love lamb, this is your place, but beef, chicken, vegan and vegetarian options are very good as well. The atmosphere is casual, artistic, quietly upscale and welcoming for family or a romantic meal. The cocktail offerings are unique and very well done. Try the Gin Basil! The selection of excellent Lebanese wines (and plenty of others) was also delightful.

Unbelievable food!!!! We just had an event there and they were so accommodating and the food was great!!! I have eaten here a few different times and each time the food is off the chart. The owners are engaged and the staff does a fantastic job staying on top of everything. I would highly recommend having lunch or dinner here. Must visit location on your checklist if you visit or live here.

After living in the Persian Gulf region for several years, we have been hard pressed to find a truly authentic Lebanese/Arabic style restaurant in the Portland area. This restaurant far surpassed our expectations! The hummus, the bread, the shawarma, the desserts, the mint tea and fresh mint lemonade were absolutely perfect! The service was amazing, and the atmosphere was fun and inviting. The meals were a little on the pricey side, but everything was so fresh and delicious that it was worth every dollar. If you have ever traveled to the Arabian or eastern Mediterranean region and loved the food, or you are simply enamored with Arabian/Eastern Mediterranean cuisine, you must give Al Hawr a try. It’s totally worth it! Shukran!

Al Hawr Lebanese restaurant in Portland offers a compelling taste of the Levant, with its delicious food largely making up for some noticeable shortcomings in service. Our recent visit left us with full and satisfied stomachs, but also a desire for a more attentive and efficient dining experience.

The undisputed star of the show at Al Hawr is the food. Each dish we tried was packed with authentic flavor and clearly prepared with care. The Chicken Shawarma was a standout, featuring perfectly seasoned and tender chicken, wrapped in warm pita with fresh vegetables and a delightful garlic sauce. It was a testament to how good classic Lebanese street food can be. Equally impressive was the Grilled Chicken Breast Shish Tawook, with succulent, marinated chicken skewers that were juicy and flavorful, cooked to perfection. The Grilled Lamb Kafta also delivered, offering well-spiced, tender ground lamb that showcased the rich culinary traditions of the region. Portion sizes were generous, and the quality of ingredients was evident across the board.

However, while our taste buds were thoroughly pleased, the service unfortunately felt short for us. Throughout our meal, we experienced slow response times, some difficulty in getting the attention of staff. Hopefully that will change next time when we visit again.

We barely made it in time for lunch, but they were so gracious and seated us and said we were welcome to relax as long as we wanted. We ordered baba ghanouj, hummus, dough platter, falafel and chicken shawarma. The pita was incredibly soft and flavorful and the dips were absolutely *chefs kiss*… Smooth and creamy and a perfect compliment to the pita. The falafel were fluffy and herby. My favorite dough item was the Samboosik. I could eat myself sick on them. The music was perfect, not too loud to have a conversation. Service was impeccable. I wish we lived in the area to make it a regular experience. Couldn’t recommend a single improvement! Next time I’m definitely topping off my meal with a coffee. I read that they’re strong and tasty. Thank you for feeding these travelers well, we’ll be back when we can.
