Gaskins Cabin Steakhouse is built around a 2-room log cabin built in 1864. Originally the home of John Gaskins and his family, it was a private home for 120+ years. No one can really remember when the cabin became a restaurant, but it was somewhere in the mid to late 1980’s. Lisa Provencio-Jones has owned it since 2008, making her the longest tenured owner in the cabin’s history. Lisa invites you to experience the unique environment of Gaskins Cabin Steakhouse. Oven roasted prime rib highlights the menu, with hand-cut, char-grilled steaks being classic favorites. Lisa and her team look forward to serving you our award-winning dishes. Please take the time to make a reservation and enjoy a delicious meal in an historic location.
Quaint spot in a historic, restored log cabin with select steak & seafood fare, plus wine & spirits.

My filet was cooked well and melted in my mouth. The side salad and garlic parmesean pasta were tasty as well.
My husband’s ribeye was good, not the best, but good. His loaded baked potato was delicious. The bread served with the meal was perfect!
The ambiance was nice and quaint. Pretty dark where we were seated, but I know some people like that.
Would definitely recommend!!!
First off, we were seated and got our drinks and were being served great until a group was seated in our area. We had no problem with this but it seemed to us that our waiter was favoring them. They got their appetizers and starters first despite us being the first to be seated. Even when our entres were served they got their food before we did. It was definitely frustrating especially because we had made reservations.
Now the food. We got the escargot and mac n cheese for starters. This was our first time having escargot and I will say I didn’t like it but I don’t blame that on the cooks, just me. The mac n cheese was also good. My husband ordered the New Orleans steak and potatoes and I ordered the Shrimp Scampi. His food was amazing, like I said at the beginning. Mine was disappointing. The shrimp came with the shell on so I had to peel off the tails myself just for the shrimp to not even be good. It was definitely cooked too long because it had a chewy texture. The noodles were fine.
In short, service was meh, despite the favoritism our service was nice and the host was also nice. My food was okay but I wouldn’t eat it again for how much I paid. Husband enjoyed his food though.
While we waited, 4 tables around us got up, were cleaned and seated with new guests before we got our appetizer and salads (we had to ask for bread). One of the new tables had 4 people, they ordered, got their food, ate and left before we got our food. It took 1 1/2 hours before we finally got our food. We contemplated leaving since we felt forgotten. 2 other tables around us were having the same issues.
Food finally came out, it wasn’t great. It came out cold but we weren’t going to wait anymore since it had already taken so long. At the end of our meal, I asked for a manager, I wanted to share our experience with them so they could fix the problem and make it right. However, our server shrugged and said “shes not here”. I couldn’t believe that was her response. I asked if there was another other person, a supervisor or someone I could talk to. Someone named Andy came over. I’m not sure of his role but I share our experience with him. He seemed sympathetic, in fact the table next to us also voiced their frustration as well. He apologized and offered us dessert. Again, we didn’t want to wait any longer. He offered to discount the bill and walked away. Another table in the room barely got their food at this time but told the staff that they were no longer hungry and asked to just take it off their bill and all three tables in total had asked for their check multiple times, one table had asked 3 times. One waitress, a short blonde hair female got really snappy with one of the tables and told them that they could just leave. They had been asking for nearly 15 mins for their check but at this point they got up. But then she threatened to call the cops on them because they were going to leave without paying their bill.
I work in hospitality and customer service for over fifteen years, and I have never in my life had a member of my staff threaten to call the police on a table who was only voicing their concerns of frustrations at the service they received during their experience. When we finally got our bill, they only took $20 off, which was still a very expensive bill. This was an insult to our faces but we were over this poor service.
Needless to say between the three tables which equaled seven people in total, none of us will be back to visit this restaurant again due to the poorest service we received when trying to voice our frustration and the extraordinarily long wait times due to a understaffed kitchen.
