Driving through small towns always reminds me of home, and The Palouse Caboose Bar and Grill captured that same cozy feeling. I stopped in on a whim and was pleasantly surprised by the warm atmosphere, laid-back vibes, and genuinely friendly service. The highlight of my visit was their fantastic Huckleberry cider, it was so good, and bonus points for being brewed in Spokane. This place is a gem worth pulling over for if you’re passing through!

Excellent spot for some beer and food while soaking in some ambiance with a side of music. Friendly staff, hearty portions, awesome porch. I recommend checking out pulled pork tacos on taco Tuesday. Emily is great!

My kiddo and I went for supper and the food here was so delicious! We had chicken BBQ and it was so moist. The servers were also really nice, chill, and helpful. Plus, the music was awesome!

Been here a few times. Each time has been a good experience. They make all the food from scratch. Sausage (yes, from scratch). Chips, from scratch. Fries, from scratch. Buns, that’s right, from scratch. It’s good eats with a full bar.

Excellent bar/restaurant. Good selection of smoked meats on the menu accompanied by delicious sides. A full-service bar serves excellent mixed drinks or there is a limited tap list. Find a seat and order at the bar. There is also a large patio seating area when the weather improves. Check out the weekly specials for food and entertainment. Definitely worth the drive.

We took my Aunt and my grandparents today and sat on the patio and had lunch and it was such an amazing day! The weather was nice, the view of downtown was gorgeous, and the food was to die for!! We came on my birthday last year and it was amazing then too!! My family LOVED everything about it, down to the homemade iced tea! My husband and I did miss the garlic fries they used to have but the onion rings made up for it!! There was also a motorcycle gang that came for lunch and they got packed fast and the staff handled it seamlessly it was very impressive! Highly recommend

Pretty much the go-to restaurant in the tiny town of Palouse. My motorcycle riding group often makes a stop here when riding through the Palouse from Coeur d’Alene and Spokane. They have good bar and grill food and nice indoor and outdoor seating options. Can accommodate a larger group fairly easily.

Just rolled back into town fresh off the Florida panhandle, sand still in my shoes and a thirst that could drown a camel. I stumble into this spot that looks like the kind of place where legends are made and liver enzymes go to die. The vibe? Electric. The bar? Stocked tighter than a prepper’s bunker before Y2K. Whiskey, beer, mystery bottles that probably violate a few import laws — they’ve got it all.
Ordered this smoked chicken cordon bleu sandwich that tasted like it got blessed by Zeus himself. Smoky, cheesy, juicy — I almost proposed to it halfway through. And while I’m feasting, I can’t help but watch the staff — these folks move like a damn pit crew at Daytona. Laughing, tossing drinks, reading each other’s minds. It’s like a well-oiled machine powered entirely by good vibes and caffeine.
After weeks of beach bars and fried regret, this place was the perfect “welcome home” punch to the taste buds. If you ain’t eaten here yet, fix your life.

Great BBQ is hard to find, and Palouse Caboose ranks right up there with the best. It holds its own against places in Texas and Tennessee, and that’s saying something. BBQ itself isn’t complicated, but it has to be done on site, and they do exactly that. We’ve been here easily 25 times over the last couple of years, which should tell you something.
The Washington Apple Salad is good, though I’d personally dial back the nuts and ease up on the sugar. A lighter glaze instead of that packed sweetness would really let it shine. My go-to order is the brisket sandwich. I order it about 80 percent of the time, and it’s been excellent nearly every visit. Once it came out dry and a little gristly, but that happens in real BBQ, and they don’t lose points for being human. Every other sandwich we’ve tried has been solid, and you really can’t go wrong across the menu.
That said, I honestly don’t understand why there are no baby backs or spare ribs. Those belong on a BBQ menu, and adding one or the other would round this place out even more.
We’ve had the dirty fries once and enjoyed them, but we usually stick with plain fries. Crispy on the outside, fluffy inside, no corn, wheat, soy, or mystery flour coating. Just good fries with good meat. The beer selection is always strong, with enough variety and frequent changes that everyone can find something they like.
Is this gourmet fine dining? No. Is it far better than typical bar food? Absolutely. Palouse Caboose does BBQ the right way, and we keep coming back for a reason.

What a great little place off the beaten path. Beautiful drive to this small little town and found this gem. House smoke their meats and all of our food was delicious. Very friendly for kids and dogs. Brought out a bucket of water for a dog and there are crayons and chalk to color with on paper and on the sidewalks. Also there’s a little playhouse for kids. Clean and very friendly service.
